I was digging through old boxes of Un-ID'd material to look for something else and came across this jaw fragment I found a while back. It has no teeth, so I thought the chance for ID was slim. But it does have a distinctive morphology with a large foramen running the length, so maybe someone will recognize it. Boxes are one inch square.

Hi folks, Christmas break has @dingo2 and I organizing our Late-Cretaceous collection for a new display. While most of our stuff is carnivore teeth, we do have some other good pieces as well. One is this jaw fragment from DPF. I was able to stabilize it and polish the sides so that you can see see cross-sections of the teeth, which is very cool. I don’t know which herbivore this came from, though. The list of possibilities in that part of the world is pretty long. Can anyone help with the ID? First photo is an oblique view. Second photo is side view where you can see cross sections of the emerged and erupting teeth. Third photo is the same thing, other side. Fourth photo is dorsal view. Fifth photo is ventral. Thanks you!

amphibian jaw fragment with preserved joint Western Lithuania
D.N.FossilmanLithuania posted a topic in Fossil ID
Good morning everyone! Few months ago I found this jaw fragment in Ketvergiai quarry, Klaipeda district. The bone is 1.7 cm length and found in glacial boulder not in situ. I would think it can belong to aistopod but i need the professional ID, maybe someone would be able to identify family or order by this fragment? The big 2.6 cm diameter rhizodont scale is also found in this boulder. Best Regards Domas- 2 replies

Hello everyone. Few weeks ago I was in Klaipeda district Western Lithuania and found these two fish fossils- scale is about 3 cm diameter, jaw fragment is 1.6 cm length. I think these fossils belong to some species of rhizodont fish, but i am not sure if the species would be more Late Devonian or Carboniferous in age. Please help me to identify the genera of these remains if it is possible, I need to know what the precise age this freshwater limestone boulder belongs to. Best Regards Domas

Hello I'm a newbie fossil collector (and newly active member) who happens to several interesting fossils for a decent price from our favorite auctions sites 1st is are Knightia. The seller claims that they are not restored or enhanced 2nd set are 4 Spinosaurus teeth. The seller claims that cracks have been repaired, but no restoration or composition has been made (Pictures 2-9 of teeth in pairs) 3rd is a Lycoptera which the seller claims is not restored or enhanced 4th are plates of Elrathia Trilobites from Wheeler Formation 5th are Fossil Ferns from Llewellyn Formation 6th is a Hyracodon jaw fragment I would like to ask if the sellers' description of the items are accurate and/or if they are restored, enhanced or composites. Cheers!

A find from earlier this year. Creek bed on the surface here in West KY, (Graves County). Got it because it was different. (I started truly hunting fossils for my son who loves dinosaurs more than anything.) I had no idea as to what it might be but the shape kept me thinking I'd seen it before. I happened to be looking at Mosasaurs one day & happened to see a Moroccan peg-toothed specimen. Researched if they might have lived in the sea here. Saw a paper about Globidens which had some illustrations, then found out about Alabamaensis. Thought I had a jaw fragment minus teeth of one of those. Now I highly doubt it, but you are the people to ask! Who is it, JohnJ who has the quote about convincing yourself to believe anything?

This first tooth was found in southeast Alabama and reminds me of a porpoise tooth that I've seen before. It's 1-3/4" long and 1/2" wide. It was found in an area where we find everything from goblin to mosasaur teeth. Any thoughts as to what it is would be greatly appreciated!
