Hello all, I found a handful of fossils in the same general area in the sandy riverbeds of the Kansas River in Douglas County, Kansas, USA. I am new to finding fossils of this size so I don't really have any initial guesses. Looking forward to hearing what these might be although I realize a lot of these may be in too rough of shape for identification. The bone fragments in d and e have a different texture/color in the places where the darker surface layer has broken off. Does the dark surface layer indicate that it is fossilized or at least partially fossilized? I want to be sure I am able to distinguish fossilized bone from just old bones found in the same area. Thanks in advance.

We live in a part of Florida that is known to be the only very “hilly” part of the entire state. Which leads me to believe many years ago water filled these natural curves in the land. I often forage for animal bones of animals that have died of natural causes recently, and collect pretty rocks as a hobby. This one threw me for a loop.. bone like color and smoothness.. very circular holes as if something once occupied them.. but a rocky structure underneath. I was hoping for anyone to help me ID what this might be, whether that be a cast, a fossil, or a really neat rock. Was afraid to clean it up because I’m not sure of the ID yet. Thanks for all your help!

I keep soil, rocks, tree parts, etc. in jars. This particular jar started with a piece of wood with a small amount of moss on it, and two rocks. This was all put in the jar about 6 years ago. Throughout the years these sea urchin looking things have grown. Any idea what they might be or who would be a better contact?!

Hi all! I stopped out at a local rock shop. While they are mainly mineral and gemstone oriented they do carry a handfull of fossils. I was looking for some gem jars.. while walking through their raw rock area, I noticed this sitting on the shelf with just a little bit of it showing. As I’m a prepping addict and it was only a couple dollars I picked it up. They had no information on it except it’s a rock with fossil bits in it LOL!. After getting it home I did a little probing prep and this is appearing. It seems familiar but I can’t put my finger on the name of it. The fossil is 33mm at its widest. Here it is wet and dry.. thanks for looking!

These two skulls I found near Pingree, ND [the one without clovers], and near Adrian, ND. I believe they're from the same animal.

Please help with Id Amateur here, but seems to me to be a fossilized tooth fragment. I've looked through lots of picts and the best matches (judging by the general shape) seem to be horse or bison. Since the crown seem to be gone it makes it hard to tell. I'd like to ask y'all. Might not even be a tooth, but it's certainly fossilized.

Hello there, we were wondering if anyone was able to identify this fossil, found on the floor in the Peak District in the UK? There are some photos below, though the fossil is only really visible on one side. It is convex and textured, almost like a giant thumb. Any ideas or suggestions for further research would be appreciated. Thanks

Found two parts of this the other day in Indiana, and after more inspection I found the other part down the slope. It appeared to have washed out of the bank and tumbled down breaking it into pieces.Any Help with this would be appreciated. Thank you.

I found what I think might be a fossilized crab, though it might also be a rock combined with my imagination. If it’s anything else, I’m interested in that too, whatever it ACTUALLY is! Thanks in advance to the pros and more experienced hunters who can help! I have thick skin and a sense of humor, so don’t worry about offending me. I’m about 10 months into this hobby so I have a lot to learn! Found a few miles south of Benbrook lake near Fort Worth TX.

Hello fossil friends, does this tooth look familiar to anyone? We are currently near Drumheller, and we found this surface searching in an old dump area that had many fossil shards and bits. It’s about 1 1/2”. I’ve tried google already. If it turns out to be anything important it will go straight to Tyrell. Thanks for looking.

6" Fossil found at about 9000-10,000 elevation late July 2023. From Summit County, near Alpine Acres. What is it!
Gordon Johnston posted a topic in Fossil ID
A family friend found this recently in the forested mountains near Oakley, Utah, by Alpine Acres. It stumps me. Would appreciate any help identifying it. It was near a bunch of marine shells. I am putting in a couple photos of the 6" fossil, a couple of the seashells he also found there, and a photo of what I think is a concretion. Many thanks, Gordon
