A friend of Tammy's has a chunk of amethyst crystals and was curious as to what the rusty orange highlights on the crystals might be caused by. I'm assuming it's some sort of iron oxide deposit leftover from when the amethyst crystals were created within the geode. I know that impurities of iron are responsible for turning the colorless quartz into a lovely purple amethyst. Has anybody else seen these rusty highlights in their amethyst specimens? These were both collected in Arizona, I am wondering if the top one could be rough amethyst.

I have this Keichousaurus in my collection. It has a weird purple spot in his chest what looks like amethist to me . If it really is , how rare are cristaliced skeletons ? ( Sorry if the photos are not the greatest , i've tried my best photographing it )

This is not a joke, I'm not trying to get attention, I want people to know the truth so that they can form their OWN conclusions based on scientific fact. What I'm presenting has not been tampered with as to fool you. I have kept it minimal. If you are really interested then you must see it in person. I'm near Reserve, NM. FACT: A HEART CAN BE CRYSTALLIZED. FIRST IMAGES - Illustration of heart filled (taken from youtube video "heart anatomy"), then heart emptying, then heart empty). Notice the shape of the heart when emptied. I bet a lot of you didn't know that. I didn't either. The crystal is heavy for it's size. It is about 8.5 inches from top to bottom. 5.5 inches wide. 4.5 inches depth. I just washed it with water and then coated it in mineral oil. Anatomically correct crystal (amethyst) heart. What is amethyst made of? Fe3... Where is Fe3 found? In blood? Yep. The bottom of the heart is a it should be... the base is where it broke from the diaphragmatic surface and you can see the attachments. I'm could go on and on but I'm just gonna post this and see what happens. Unfortunately the wildfire nearby is obstructing my main interest in obtaining photographs of... something big. Is Corrine common to find with Amethyst? I have had a piece together before. But is Citrine common to find inside Amethyst? I have spikes of Citrine inside a spear and looks awesome!

Amethyst Agate I believe. Not sure if thereis other purple agates.

I would like to know which type of rock/mineral these would be, particularly the greenish areas. I do not have any locality information, other than they were purchased in Alabama.

I see banding on the edges, so is it an agate? I cut it in half and it has a purple inside. Is that amethyst?

Hi. I know that the one side is amethyst in the picture, but on the other side looks like smoky quartz with a vein of quartz in the middle. Clear to dark gray in color. Any info would help. Thanks

Hello, After putting online some of my fossils, with good results, I thought I might as well try it with some of my minerals. These are the last of my collection which need names. I hope you can help me again. 14, dioptase, but with what? 15, quartz? 16, quartz? 17, galena? 18, amethyst? 22, volcanic rock? 23, pink with green, not the best picture... 24, quartz? 27, pink-ish, very shiny 28, bad picture, if needed, I can take another one 30, amethyst, but with what?
