  3. Someone’s gotta know....

I found this piece last weekend on the side of the James river. I cannot tell if it is old or just from an animal that died recently. The end of the curved piece reminds me of an animals tooth or possibly even a long nail. It is round with black on the outside. Very smooth like enamel. I really have no idea. Who are my smart fossil ppl out there who can identify it...?!

  10. Hi all just for fun I was wondering has anyone on this site got a bucket list of rare specimens they love to have in their collector cabinets of curiosities. Also have you made any of those dreams come true by acquiring them. I think it would be great to know what wonderful, rare and fascinating objects inspire a collector's imagination. Some items off my bucket list too start with. 1. Stegosaurus Dorsal Plate, the most iconic part of this Jurassic dinosaur (need). 2.Excavated animal remains or bug from La Brea tar pits (need). 3. Dimetrodon fossil . ( got a beautiful claw). 4.Libyan desert glass (c.28,500,000 years old) (need) 5. Lunar rock (need... but if anyone has any spare, I will pay the postage LOL ) just the start of a list

  12. Found while digging trench. Large Fossil.

Hi, I am brand new to forum. Signed up because of my sudden interest in fossils. I unearthed one in Michigan this past week 3/22, while digging a trench. I need to find someone that can verify and advise me how to protect it. I believe it contains bone fragment. One large portion of bone is removable. From what I am learning on the fly, it is a true form fossil, cast in place. I believe it is a complete animal skull. I will add any necessary details soon and pictures when I compress file size.

  15. Greetings. I am a newbie inside the world of fossil hunting and I would be very happy if someone could help me to identify this broken fossil I found at a quarry. I am actually living in the Balearic Islands were is possible to find fossils from the devonian to the miocene and the one I found is lying at the lower level of a coast quarry in the island of Menorca. This area of the island was formed during the miocene and is full of bivalve fossils like pleistocene Pecten. The fossil I have found looks like a robuste bone which is about 16 cm (6,3 inch) long and which you can see at the picture I have attached here, thank you very much in advance.
