Hello, everybody! I have been sorting through my wenlock limestone material, Middle Silurian and have a couple of personal problematica. I am wondering if any of you brilliant folks could help me out. Here is an object which seems to be an epibiont on a Favosites coral. 5 mm long and about 1.5 mm diameter at the widest. Is it a cornulitid ? Or a single corallite of Aulopora? Something else, maybe? And another one? On a solitary rugose coral. 3 mm x 1 mm. I am pretty sure this is Aulopora. My understanding is this coral grew on hard substrates (rocks, brachiopods, other corals, etc). Nothing in my sample shows evidence of such a material to anchor on. Can this coral exist free standing or have I misidentified it?

Aulopora sp. Chain coral most commonly found encrusting the apex of giant gastropod shells but can break loose and pile up on the muddy bottom on occasion. Tie with Phillipsastrea woodmani as most common colonial coral for rockford. -
I found this by the side of gravel road so difficult to say formation, but I'll go with upper Pennsylvanian. I think I'm seeing syringopora in the majority of this rock. There's also a small area that looks like aulopora growing on net-like bryozoan. If you can verify any of this, please do. Thanks.

A few weeks ago I complained about a fossil trip that ended with few finds. But after washing the fossils and examining them closely, I actually had a few interesting specimens. The first are these trilobites -- tiny -- but trilobites, nonetheless. The trip was in Paulding, Ohio, Devonian silica shale.
