Found on the beach in village of Niendorf on Lübeck Bay, SW Baltic Sea. The specimen is heavy. Is it an egg fossil, and if so, of what creature in what period? How did the quartz pieces come to be embedded? Thanks to anyone who can help!

Hello everyone, I would like to know what this Fossil might be. I thought it looked a bit similar to a whale hearing bone, but not as much that I could be certain. The Fossil was found in the north of Germany, near the Baltic sea. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thank you very much in advance. Greetings Lukas

Hello! its my first time writing in this forum. i am from Germany and usuals discuss my findings in a German forum. But this time no one was able to identify my new fossil. it was found at the cost of the Baltic Sea in northern Germany. (You can expect fossils from every age, because of the ice age) You can see a sponge like structure with some big channels. It seems that the sponge like structure was once covered from some kind of “skin” as you can see in the pictures. the fossil measures 10“ x 4,7“ (25cm x 11cm) and seems to be heavy as a normal rock. in a German forum it was discussed if it could be some part of a big bone or rather some kind of sponge. hopefully some one of you does know the answer. please excuse my bad English and have a nice day! yannick

Hi, I have found this rock at Baltic sea coast in Latvia and kept it as I've found it interesting.. Then, watching some fossil discovery videos, decided to ask people with experience.. ) I have basically no knowledge of the subject and I apologize for wasting your time if my find is just boring ) Any thoughts? Thank you!

Hello from Baltic Sea! In Svetlogorsk only one find this time. This is Porifera, i think. I don't know the age yet. Found her among the ferruginous sand. It is a sponge, but very fragile. By how did she survive all this time? Especially after falling off a slope... Inside, they have an interesting layered structure. The place of the find is marked with gloves. She fell from about 7 meters.

Hey guys, the first one actually doesn't looks like a cephalopod, maybe part of a trilobite (from the Baltic coast)? 2. This flint remembers me of something from the bottom of the sea. Any Idea? Thanks in advance!

Hello. I have found a fossil on the island of Gotland in the baltic sea. I am having some trouble finding (clearly) matching pictures online. Therefore I thought I could put a post up in here to hopefully find some help leading me in the right direction!

Hi, everyone! I am new here and know almost nothing about fossils. I found this rock on the coast of the Baltic Sea in Latvia and was wondering if someone could tell me anything about it. I have previously found stones with marks or even fossilized snails, but this one seems really interesting (if it is a fossil at all).

Hello, in the Silurian rocks I found during my last trip to the Balic Sea, I found a few strange things. The first one is 1,5 cm long, 0,6 cm wide: This is the best magnification I can get - sorry for the flash reflection in the magnifying glass. The other one is bigger - it's 3 cm long and 1,5 cm wide These first two emerged after splitting the rock. The last one is on the surface - it's 4 cm long, 1 cm wide. You can feel the little grooves. Is it something ot just a rock scratched in an interesting way?

Last weekend I made a short trip to the Polish coast of the Baltic Sea (short because of duration, not distance - it's 1000 km to get there and come back to Warsaw ). My Mom and me were professionally equipped, according to the instructions of @vermiculosis, we brought UV lamps and appropriate protective glasses, because we hoped to find some amber pieces on the shore at night. We went to look for amber after 8 pm, and it was soooo dark at the shore that we could hardly see anything - and thus please excuse the quality of the pictures, but the flash in the phone couldn't cope with the darkness around us. Here is my Mom, professionally prepared to find amber Although the wind was really strong and the waves quite intense, there was no "sea rubbish" on the shore to inspect for amber, but it turned out that other rocks with fossils on the breach respond quite well to the UV light, so we found quite a lot of cluster rocks with various "stuff" that lit up in the darkness. Here are some of them in daylight
