Hello, fellow enthusiasts! I am very excited to learn from this group. I have always been fascinated by fossils, and now I have some time to devote to hunting them more often and learning about what I find. I primarily hunt the creek beds at my husband's family ranch, in Medina, Bandera County, Texas. I have had great luck finding lots of bivalves and gastropods, and would like to be able to identify more kinds while in the field, as well as the names of what layers(?) of sediment they've come from. Is that the right word? Looking forward to interacting with y'all!

Found this “fossil” close to Medina lake, it had a hairline crack all the way around it. As I was cleaning it off I gently persuaded it to come apart. The in side is interesting and I’m curious if anyone can tell me what this is.
