    Is it even a fossil?

I need help to ID my latest find. It is porous, like a bone, but does not look it. The lines look like scratch marks, or something.
  2. I found this awesome tooth today by accident in about 4-5 feet of water at Betterton Beach on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It is about 2 1/8" long and very thin, like a needle tooth. On the bottom of the tooth, near its pointed end, there is some serration, and the point itself seems to have a small plate or point extending at the bottom of it. This is my first tooth I have ever found on a beach, and despite my research and fair knowledge of shark teeth, the question of whether this tooth is a fossil and what it belongs to has stumped me. Perhaps one of you could help me out? PS: This is my first post on Fossil Forum, and I'd like to say hi to you guys, and I'm hoping you have an idea on what this is! PPS: Is this tooth AWESOME, or what?

help with boney fish mouth part

Hello, any help with identifying this part would be appreciated. I'm curious what it belonged to... Found on the surface at beach in Jacksonville FL (It measures approx. 5/8 inch on the widest dimension and about 1/8 inch thick)

    What is it?

I'm sure this is a common fossil. I have already browsed through goggle, but cant find it. I found it on the beach of lake Michigan in Michigan. The beach was so crowed with crinoid stems fossils, I didn't even bother collecting them. But I find something long shaped with spikey things on the bottom and the top. it wont let me add pictures. never mind, it added the pictures the top and the bottom have spikes. both sides have those ridges
  5. Some more closeups of this awesome fossil I found. Quick question as well whenever I turn the fossil in the light I can see some glitter, should I soak this in water for a few hours to be sure? Don't want this ruining

Fossil found at Filey Beach UK.

Hi guys. Recently found around 10 fossils at Filey Beach in the UK. Most are easily recognisable. This one has intrigued me though, I believe I can see a small ammonite or something on the front, but the objects around it interest me, there is also part of an ammonite on the back also, can anyone identify the objects around the front ammonite as anything, maybe a tooth or something? or is it just nothing, thanks. Hope the picture quality is alright.

    Not just rocks

Hi kids ! New member here ! I'm Shaun Gore , 54 years young, and while other people are walking the beach looking for beautiful shells, I opt, as my father taught me , to look for ugly rocks to find fossils!

    Teeth?

Hello!!!! Not sure what this is but I have had it kicking around for years (20 to be exact). It was found on a beach in Nova Scotia. It appears to be bone, is about 2 inches high by 1.5 inches across but doesn't look to be a complete segment. Any ideas?

    Fossil tooth?

Hi Team I found two fossils I presume and I am uploading photos of one of them on this thread. I live in Australia and found these fossils on Sorrento Beach in the Victoria State of Australia. Any help in identifying the fossil would be great help :-) The length of the specimen is 4 cm, the broader end is 1 cm wide and the narrow end is about 4mm wide.

Is this a fossil? I found it on a beach a few years ago, I thought it might be a fossil but I don't know anything about them so wasn't sure.

    Coral or Geological

It's about 3 inches by 3 inches. Found it on a beach near the Mac Bridge/Lake Huron area. I'd like to know what to call it. Thanks.

    Need help to ID

I found this at the beach near South Ponte Vedra, FL during the last year. I suspect they are both some kind of teeth. Am I correct? One more picture of the same find
  19. Hey everyone, I was hoping I could get your help in identifying what I think is a shark tooth? Embarrassingly enough it could just be a shell, but it looks an awful lot like a tooth to me. It's about 2" in length, if that helps, and I found it on the beach in Brackley, PEI. If it's a shark tooth, what shark does it belong to? And if it's not, what is it? If you have any ideas, I would love to know! It's really for curiosity's sake. Thank you! Here is the back-

    What is this little guy?

Hi All! I'm new here, I found this blog while researching a little find of mine. I posted the pictures below. I found this cute little guy while beach glass picking at walnut beach on Lake Erie. One more item to ID

This is another bone I need help with. Since I find all my fossils on the beach near South Ponte Bedra, FL, I cant give more information about the Time Scale, Stratigraphy etc. And a question, I have probably 10-15 more items to ID, but I dont like to overburden our experts. Should I post them once a week or so? What are the forum rules about that? Thank you all!

    Petrified Wood?

Found this small piece while fossil hunting at a beach. Does have a small hole in the center that goes all the way across. Is here any way of knowing if it's petrified wood?
