I can't find anything similar in the Florida Fossil Guides, and searching for Tooth ID in florida mainly comes up with Shark Teeth... Found at Sandy Hook in the Atlantic Highlands area on a bay side beach.. any thoughts? I haven't done the tongue test, but it does seem to 'stick' to a damp finger.

Stumbled across this large potential fossilized bone on a beach walk today. Any ideas on what animal it could be from? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Shoe in one photo for size reference.

I found this oddity while walking along Bandera Beach in Costa Rica. The beach is visited by sea turtle, crocodiles, sting rays, humpback whales and other fishes and sharks. The beach is on the Pacific Ocean relatively close to the equator. It is shaped like a shark tooth but I doubt that it is due to the porous nature and large size. The shape doesn’t remind me of coral, but it could be. It seems to me like a bone. There is a small protuberance that soft tissue could attach to. I was thinking turtle or crocodile but I reviewed images of their skeletons and didn’t see a match. Any ideas?

Hello I found this fossil (I think?) on the beach of Lake Huron. It is weird they are two stripes but when I zoomed in it appears there are "fringe like" items on the edges. It's weird because the brown lines are shiny. Any help in identifying if this is a fossil and perhaps how old is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hi folks! I'm a total newbie at this but found an unusual block at West Runton beach, Norfolk. It's 3" x 1" x 1" approx, with a clearly defined print on one face. The whole block is quite uniform in colour, but there appears to be an underlying structure which can be seen at a couple of corners. I've not seen anything remotely like it at West Runton before so it stands out a bit. My best amateurish guesses are either solidified baked mud or some kind of skin print- but given the find location I'm not sure either are very likely! I hope someone can be more definite!

Hello, I am new to this community and fossils/bone identification in general. Hope you can help me with identifying a part of the skull I recently found (or at least I think it is a part of the skull). I found the bone recently (May 2022) close to a beach in Malmö, Sweden while cleaning up the beach with my colleagues. I would like to make a nice display stand for it, and I'd like to have something other than "Unknown Species" on a tag. I suspect what I see here are the eyeholes and the nose on a skull bone. First I thought it was a bird of some kind, or some other reptile. But looking at skull pictures online, I cannot recognize anything. Maybe a fish, since it was found close to the beach? I suspect it's impossible to find out the exact species, but at least the genus or the family would be nice. Cheers, Nikola

I believe it's a paratodus benedini. No serrations, fat tooth, curve, the wear pattern the break pattern all scream it to me. Thank you for the thoughts!

Help for and 8 year old - Are These crinoid and trilobites?

My grandson sent me photos of his little haul from today on his beach He is nearly 8 and loves checking his local beach. He has compared what he found with photos in his kid’s books of fossils. He’s wondered if these are trilobites and crinoids all- the last 2 photos are the same find. He has been asked to show some of his fossils in a special exhibition in the Laing Art gallery in Newcastle upon Tyne called “These are Our Treasures “ which will coincide with the display of the Lindisfarne Gospels. He feels quite excited by this!

Greetings to all. This specimen was encountered on a beach where common Miocene fossils, such as shark teeth, whale vertebrae, cetacean periotic bones and bulla can be discovered. It is the first one of its kind I have come across and would really appreciate input from members to assist with the correct ID. Thanking you all in advance.

I found this on the beach in Englewood Florida one year. I have always wondered what it was. I just enjoy the hunt for sharks teeth and other fossils. It's very calming for me I've finally decided to learn about my collection. This is my most curious piece. This forum is so cool. Wish I would have looked for y'all a long time ago. I hope the pictures are done correctly and do it justice. Maybe it's just a rock but I love it.
