Hi everybody, I found this last Sunday on the beach in central Vietnam. It looks like fossilised bones with some skin on it. Does anybody know what this could be? Thank you in advance for your help.

LOCATION: Orange County, CA Hi. I found this bone in a pile of rocks along a wall adjacent to the railroad that runs along my house. The bone is fairly large and doesn’t look to be very old. Any idea on what animal it belongs to or what type of bone this is? I included a photo of the spot where I found it. thanks, james larkins

I found these fossils in the cliffs here in Victoria. I was told by a fossil collector that they are fish earbones/otoliths. Can anyone confirm what they are? Thanks, Manfi

This bone was found in a gravel pit in an industrial area, outside of a warehouse. California, USA. This is the last place I would have expected to find a bone. I just happen to notice it among many similar looking rocks . The bone seems to have fused or been bonded to pieces of gravel and rock. I doubt from the photos that it will be identifiable but it couldn’t be that old. Maybe it is more common to find bone in piles of gravel than I am aware of. Just thought I would share.

Curious about this piece of fish bone. From a Middle Devonian (Givetian) site. It's fragmentary and weathered, but the weathering exposed some interesting structures on the underside, consisting of parallel rows of indentations. Not sure what to make of it. Any thoughts?

Bone found in Bolivar Peninsula, Texas .. about 2 miles down from Mcfaddin Beach. I have found many bones over the years in this area. Have identified some as possible bison? Teeth, leg bones, etc. I love finding these treasures and become somewhat obsessed with finding out, “what is this?” Any help much appreciated! Thanks!

Hello , I have this two still unidentified pieces in my collection. A bone and a tooth. But from what ? The bone looks like If it came from a joint (flat , smooth area ). But I have no clue to which animal the tooth belongs to. Could it be that these pieces are from the pleistocene ? I found them in Hejlsminde , Denmark in a cliff. Thanks !

I found this heavy, dark bone on a gravel bar along the trinity river in western Dallas County Texas. Any ideas? This little calcite-like pebble occupied the hole visible on one end. I have not performed any burn tests, litmus tests, multiple choice tests, or otherwise. I measured it, 9” long almost exactly. Roughly 1.25” wide near the center measuring across the side with the dip. Thanks in advance!

Hey, As a little recap to the last post, a bit ago me and family were working on an excavation project for a house within Caldwell County in Central Texas and accidentally broke through the upper cretaceous layer (namely the Upper Taylor group) and found a bunch of fossils. I'm going to try to post at least 5 fossils every other day going forward so I would really appreciate the help! 1. I have no idea what this could be. My best guess is that it could be some sort of shell imprint. 2. This one reminds me of a vertebrae with the line pattern, but I've never seen a vert this shape which surprised me. 3. Similarly to the other one, it again reminds me of a vert because of the line pattern, but it's so thin so I got nothing. 4. This one surprised me the first time I found it because of its weird design on the top. It almost looks like skin. Not to mention that it has 3 layers which confused me even more. 5. This find is probably the one I am most interested of the 5. The reason being because it looks like some sort of tooth. The reason I say this is because of the texture on the bottom reminded me of a shark tooth root texture. Thanks for the help!

Hello, This specimen comes from the Pennsylvanian Period of Allegheny County, PA. It is from the Glenshaw Formation and is probably Brush Creek Limestone. The texture appears to be bone. Thanks for the help.

Hey, So a while back me and my family were working on an excavation project for a house and accidentally managed to breach the cretaceous formation. I found a bunch of cool stuff and I was hoping someone could help ID some of these finds. I'm a total new guy when it comes to this so I would appreciate the help. These finds were found in Central Texas about an hour from Austin. 1. My best guess this is some sort of bone but to what animal I do not know. 2. This is another thing that appears to be bone that I found. Again, unknown. 3. I think i actually have an idea to what this is. I was thinking a jaw piece of a fish maybe enchodus? 4. This is probably the weirdest of the bunch. I had to keep the dirt on it because it was breaking apart. This looks like some sort of bone as well. I didn't bother cleaning this one too much because it was so fragile to the point where I actually had to glue it back while prep so it might not look like much. 5. This one to me looks like a piece of a tooth of sorts. I couldn't quite get a good picture but there is little serrations on the tip. I got a bunch more stuff such as shark teeth and other smaller bones that I would like IDs on as well but for now these will do. Again, all of this stuff was found in the same place. Thanks for the help!

Hi! New Member here. I was hoping to get help with an id on a possible bone, possible fossil that I found on the coast of Carova Beach, NC on 12/31/23. On the 4x4 part of the beach right where its blocked off so the horses dont get through. I've posted a few angles and included my hand in one for reference. Please let me know if any more info would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Good evening everyone! Happy New year to all of you! This afternoon, walking on the beach a strange stone has captured my attention. I have no idea wat it can be...It look to me shaped in a particular way...(See photo) Is it a stone? A tool? A tooth? Anything else??? Hello everyone one, this is my first post on here and I was hoping to try and figure out what this mystery bone is. It was found on the coast of North Carolina near the town of Duck on the ocean side on 12/25/23. This is for sure a modern bone and not a fossil. I am led to believe this piece is from a sea turtle shell, though I am not 100% sure. The piece itself is roughly 13 cm across, a little over a cm thick, and about 8 cm tall in the middle point. The piece appears to connect to other bone structures from just about every side except for the points of the "wings". If you all have any suggestions as to what this could be that would really help! Thank you!

Found this very interesting bone fossil while hunting sea glass in Italy. I apologize for not having proper measuring tools, I just moved to Italy! The photos are taken on a standard US sized CD case. any ideas?? Thanks!
