    Unknown Small NJ Cretaceous Bone?

I found this piece a long time ago in a cretaceous site in New Jersey and haven't really been able to figure out what this is since. I'm not sure if its fish, marine reptile, dinosaur, or etc. Just noticed it browsing through my collection and figured this would be the best place to get help, any help appreciated to get a label on this, thank you.

    Daughter's find

My daughter found this back in June in the hell creek formation in Montana. I'm not sure what kind of bone or dinosaur it would have come from so she asked me to post it on here for the experts to advise. My best guess was part of a vertebrae but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance.

    Bone tool?

I found this in a creek in Claiborne County, MS. It is bone and it is petrified. The smooth, straight sides are what is perplexing and even more so the "spiral on the one side. You can see the "spiral" in the photographs. This may be something comman and not man made. Can anyone help me with identifying this? Is it Native American? Photo of the "back"

    Allosaurus bone fragment?

I purchased this bone fragment at a fossil show. It's from the Morrison formation of Utah. I suspect it's theropod, most likely Allosaurus because of its hollow nature but I just wanted to get other opinions on it. Thanks everyone!
  8. Hello - I'm hoping someone might have an idea what this is. We found it in the surf off the coast of North Carolina. Looks to me like it might be the socket of a ball and socket joint but other than that, I have no idea. It's hollow throughout. Any thoughts on what it might be?
  9. Hi master prep guys This has been a real challenge for me and I'm struggling. Any wisdom much appreciated. Potentially I've got a lovely ichthyosaur paddle here but it's driving me crazy. The matrix is so flaky I've had to put a stack of thin Paraloid on to stop the matrix disintegrating. I'm wondering if adding the Paraloid has stuck the matrix to the bone. The matrix is softer than the bone but is dangerously flakey without the Paraloid. I have a pen, pin vice and a hammer. The last tool is rapidly becoming an option! Should I selectively remove Paraloid-ed matrix? Other thoughts?

    What did I just find?

I was just on a trip with some friends near Ochoco National Forest in Oregon and stumbled upon this. I weighed myself with and without this thing in my hand with a digital scale accurate to .1 lbs several times and it comes in at .7 lbs. Thoughts? Thanks, y'all. Dillon

    professional fossil prep

Hi - thank you to all that have helped me to acquire so much information on my fossils/concretions. How would I go about hiring a professional to prep some of my larger bone fossils? I assume it would be very expensive and would like to know if it's worth the time and money. I posted several photos in the ID section under the title "Bone or Concretion" and "is this a sea lion". If needed I can resend to this post. Thank you for your continued help and knowledge... very much appreciated!

    East Iowa Bone Fragment?

This was found in stream bed near Mississippi in southern Iowa. Uncertain if this is a fossil bone fragment. It is very dense and about 5 cm in length. Any thought on how to ID this specimen/material?

    Fossilized bone?

Is this a fossilized bone? or just something else?
  15. Found this while digging up a flower bed today. Part of it looks sorta like copper, I scratched it with a knife and its a soft material. Then the sides look like a skin texture and the bottom and top look like the inside of a bone. I also found a piece of petrified wood in the same location. Just wondering if anyone knows what it is. Thanks A few more shots

    Need cretaceous bone ID

Hi, I found years ago this (probably dinosaur) bone in cretaceous beds located in Southern France. These layers contain dinosaur, crocodile and turtle bones. It is about 8 cm / 3 inch long Would you have any idea oh what it is ?

    Identification

Hey guys, i found this bone in southern alberta, i was curious to know what it could be. It is nearly impossible to identify i know, it is a small chunk. But what i find odd is that it is such a flat bone. Smooth surface on either side, the marrow still within. I just done know what sort of bone is this flat

    Big bone piece

Hi all, I found this big piece of bone yesterday on the Zandmotor (Netherlands) (Pleistocene). Most probably from a large mammal. Anyone know what part of the body it might be, and from what animal? Thanks in advance, Max

Who does this bone belong to?

I found this bone yesterday on matoaka beach, I'm wondering what it belonged to, or where in the skeleton it was. It has one concave side, so I'm guessing a joint somewhere. Miocene Choptank formation. if more pictures are needed I can provide them.

    Tiny little bone

Hi all, Here is a tiny piece of bone I found on the Zandmotor (Netherlands) (Pleistocene). Do you know what part of the skeleton it might have come from, and from what animal? For now I'm thinking mouse... I can take closeups if needed. Thanks in advance, Max

    Fossil?

  22. Does anybody have any opinions about this? I don't like the look of it at all - where the bone has chipped away, there's red stuff underneath (glue?). This doesn't look like the usual Chinese fakes you see on eBay. This is the only photo available.

    Florida Jaw Bone?

Here is another Peace River find. I think it is part of a jaw bone. I know identification is difficult for partial pieces but this has a bulb that has what looks like a spot where a tooth had been. The bulb shape is on the right. The next photo shows it from the top and the last is from the side that is palm down.
