From the album: BONES
Here are the calcanea of two prominent perissodactyls from the Florida fossil record. The smaller is an Equus horse calcaneum, a fairly common fossil from the Florida Pleistocene. The larger is from a good-size rhino, Teleoceras proterum, from a Late Miocene - Early Pliocene site in the Withlacoochee River of Florida. The rhino bones are much more difficult to find.© Harry Pristis 2022
