Hello together, I am new to this forum and am starting to build my collection of dinosaur teeth. Because I want to do it properly, I am cataloguing the teeth I already own (unfortunately there aren't many yet). While taking pictures for my database I stumbled upon one tooth I bought two years ago on a fossil fair here in Germany. According to the seller it is supposed to be a Carcharodontosaurus sp. from the Kem Kem formation in Morocco. Bit it looks completely different from my second Carcharodontosaurus sp. I bought last year (picture 2) and which shows the classical serration. A first search for similar teeth on the internet remained without any results... So here is my hope that you can help my with the identification. Thanks in advance and please excuse my English...

Hi everyone, Im looking at a bunch of stuff that someone got from the big fossil expo this month, but I want to be sure of what is what before I do anything. There's a few things way beyond what I could potentially get, but I'm just curious about in general. These are all Moroccan, and most, if not all, are Kem Kem. are these first 4 pics spinosaur? With the teeth I know the 2 on the top&left are probably carchar teeth, but I'm wondering about the other 2. In the 2nd picture, I'm guessing the right one is a spinosaur vert, right? What about the other one? I'm sure it would probably be very hard to tell with just a single rib, but could the rib be spinosaurus? It seems to match some museum spino skeleton ribs, but that's the best I can figure out:/

Hello! I am looking for buying these two great teeth of carcharodontosaurus. The seller assures that they are not restored. I think they are of good quality and have good enamel and good serrations. Do you think they are of good quality? Is it possible to get better pieces? Thank you very much for your help. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N__GZroIEmRJ2VHlUzf8YvgeQbacdhfr/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_Ft6XS2bwSgrG63tuUipBwDKM4fC-w-d/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Na_iaYfJz7w-OK8S6pqLRmp0Y8DDSmRn/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IT7SQNWcuU746VL6rGoVF_ZJrq-qotla/view?usp=drivesdk

I know that T. rex used to be considered the biggest meat eating theropod dinosaur until the discovery of Giganotosaurus, but Spinosaurus is now considered the biggest theropod of all time. Who first considered Spinosaurus to be larger than T. rex. Is it possible that the emergence of giant carcharodontosaurs and tyrannosaurs in North America and Asia prompted ankylosaurids to develop tail clubs to fend off those predators.

Carcharodontosaurus saharicus Teeth Collection (3.4" to 5.5") - updated October 2014
Megatooth Collector posted a gallery image in Member Collections
From the album: Dinosaur Teeth
This is my current collection of Carcharodontosaurus saharicus teeth as of October 29, 2014. I have added a few more specimens since my last post in August so thought I would add an updated photo. I have played around with different display options and personally like the Rikker boxes and want to create a upper and lower jaw-like arrangement. The age of this dinosaur teeth are Mid Cretaceous epoch, Albian stage (96 million years ago). There were all found south of Taouz, K'Sar-es-Souk province, Kem-Kem basin region of Morocco and range from 3.4 inches to 5.5 inches along the outer curvature.- 1 comment

need a little help with this tooth
tenkart9 posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
dear fossil experts! as i wrote i need a little help with this tooth. i bought it today at a fossil trade show and the man who sold it, told me that it is a deltadromeus tooth from kem kem. so, i'm a dinosaurfan since ever, i'm reading a lot of books and startet to collect a few cheaper teeth like from spinosaurus or mosasaurus (which i bought at the natural history museum) but i'm really no expert on the fossils from morocco (or on any other i think). but i know that there is no known deltadromeus skull. so what kind of tooth is it? is more likely a carcharodontosaurus tooth? or is it "just" a big tooth from a species we don't know yet? I bought it because from my point of view it is in a good condition and (hopefully) not restored (but as i said, i'm really no expert on these things). what do you think about it? is it a tooth of good quality or was it a bad deal? (if so, i'll try to make it better next time) Thanks in advance to all who are answering my questions :-)- 13 replies

Carcharodontosaurus tooth with a fishy root
Bone guy posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello everyone! I'm considering this rooted Carcharodontosaurus tooth. It's from the Kem Kem Beds likely Ifezoune formation. I'm pretty certain the crown is real, but the root is suspicious. The seller does openly claim that the root is repaired which is probably why it demands a lower price. Honestly I like the gnarly look of the root, gives it character. But what I'm really concerned with is whether this is a composite. Is there any way to tell from these pictures? Would be cool if this is an all original tooth! Thanks for any help, tooth is just under 4 inches.- 4 replies

6 inch Carcharodontosaurus Tooth- Real or fake?
pcptrade posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi all, I am new to fossil collecting and I am looking to acquire either a T-Rex or Carcharodontosaurus. I found this online. The seller claims that there are no repair/restoration on Carcharodontosaurus teeth and also offers money back guarantee. T-Rex tooth has few small hydrartion cracks that were stabilized as per the seller. I am debating whether to buy 2.5 inch T-rex tooth vs 6 inch Carcharodontosaurus tooth. The price is pretty much the same. I am attaching photos of both Carcharodontosaurus (Photos 1 to 4) and T-rex (photos 5-9) My question is which one would you choose for long term investment. Also, which one would you choose based on rarity and condition? Is a 6 inch Carch tooth rare?. I appreciate your opinions.- 39 replies

Hi everyone, The tooth below is being advertised as a Pathological Juvenile CARCHARODONTOSAURUS Tooth on the popular auction site. Is this legit? I have my doubts... Please let me know your thoughts on this. I am curious to see what people think. Seller says Pathological teeth are not common and tend to be caused by infections during the animals lifetime and that the tooth itself has unusual depressions, narrow tip, twists and shape to it. Its 23mm and the seller says it is clear this Carcharodontosaurus was easily under 1 year old...

Hi, So i have another question. Just saw this on our favourite auction website (no surprise there), listed as a Carcharodontosaurus dorsal. It is 9.25 inches long and not sure exactly what diagnostic features to look out for. Can anyone help narrow down what it could be. Also is there any red flags to watch out for - the seller says there are some glued and filled fractures but wondering if anything has been fabricated (looks almost too nice). Thanks.

Had a Carch tooth come in the mail recently that got pretty banged up in the case. I was a little alarmed when I first looked at it, but there were even more small pieces when I opened up the case. A little patience, a few toothpicks, and a bit of PaleoBond and it is not looking so bad though! One thing I have found useful in gluing small pieces back together is that if you get a toothpick a little damp on one side, it will temporarily stick to the piece you are trying to glue. Makes it a lot easier than trying to get it in place with your fingers. Another thing, be really careful with your fingers and glue. I have *almost* glued my fingers to teeth I was fixing a number of times. It is easy to do working with small pieces.

Carcharodontosaurus Tooth from Morocco
Kaiju Slayer333 posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I bought this tooth from a antique mall when I was back in Virginia for a bit, and while the tooth has quite a lot of info and is in good condition, before I try to add it anywhere here. I wanna know if this tooth is real or even from a different species. (Which I highly doubt)- 41 replies

Carcharodontosaurid partially rooted posterior tooth
Anomotodon posted a gallery image in Member Collections
From the album: Dinosaurs and Reptiles
Distal serration density is almost 3/mm, for typical Carcharodontosaurus it is ~2/mm. However, I also compared it to my other juvenile wide-crown Carch teeth and it seems that 2.7-3/mm is typical for juveniles.-

I just acquired some new specimens in my Moroccan Kem Kem dinosaur and reptile tooth collection. Thought i'd show you guys the lot. They are all from the Kem Kem/Tegana Formation near Taouz, Morocco. As you can see i love collecting dinosaur and reptile teeth from this area! The larger ones are incredibly rare and virtually non-existant at the formation nowadays. I'm quite proud of them! What do you guys think? P.S- that "Ankylosaur" tooth was infact looked at by Robert Bakker. He thinks it is from an Ankylosaur, which is ultra rare because no Ankylosaurs are known from the formation yet!
