Hey everyone, Happy new year! My son and I found this today in Hogtown Creek in Gainesville, FL. To me, it looks like a dog's claw (are they called claws? nails?). Anyways, at first my son thought it was a shark tooth, but it doesn't look like any tooth I have ever seen. It has something that resembles the gums of a tooth. The bottom is flattened, but that could just be wear. Please let me know what you think it could be. Hopefully the pictures are clear. Thanks in advance!! Sam

Does this seem real? It just looks sort of suspect to me. The channel running down the length looks way to uniform and perfect to be real.

Does anyone have an idea of what this might belong to? The claw is approximately 2 inches long. This claw was found in the Judith River Formation. Seller is claiming it’s a Therapod of some sort. Any input would be appreciated! Thank you.

I recently did a bad thing and took a spontaneous punt on a claw without much info. I'm wondering if anyone could tell me anything at all about the look of it? Does it even look dinosaurian? Due to the size & condition, I wouldn't be shocked if it was a replica of some sort, even though I can't find anything close online. I just can't make a decent judgement call on it being fake from eyeballing these photos. The seller was obviously not the collector of the specimen (they couldn't even positively identify it as a claw) and was open about having no knowledge of the details surrounding it; all I have to go on, is that the seller was on the South coast of England and other fossils they had for sale included mostly British ammonites, Ichthy and Plesiosaur verts. They also described it as "quite heavy". The photos aren't particularly clear, as they're from the seller; I will update with better when it arrives. I've brightened/enhanced them the best I could, so there are distortions in the detail, and the colours/sheen might not be quite true to life:

Hi, There is this claw i have been looking at and i would like to know from the claw experts whether this looks genuine? The seller does state it has some fractures that have been glued and filled and the preservation plus the look of the overall shape leads me to believe that it is genuine. However most (or at least a decent amount of) large claws are probably fabricated to some extent and this claw is 10cm in length (4 inches). Part of the base of the claw looks to have a different colouration from one side so i don't if that is normal or not. Thanks in advance!

Greetings, I recently acquired a big spinosaurus claw from a moroccan seller at a fossils and minerals event in Barcelona, Spain, called Expominer. I was quite happy with the purchase until a friend of mine told me that it could be a fake claw carved from a bone, but he is not sure, I have been checking similar spinosaurus claws on catawiki and they are sold as real dinosaur claws... What do you think? Thank you very much.

Who thinks this Wealden claw (my fossil) is Oviraptorid? What are the diagnostic features, anyone know....Henry?? Looks like it could be either to me - Dromaeosaurid/Oviraptorid. It is interesting that we also have maniraptoran confirmed at this locality, so this is another one to consider when identifying small elements like this. I am finding very small theropod dinosaur bones and claws that could belong to these animals. Currently Oviraptorids are only known from the late Cretaceous! And only in Asia. Yet some forum members have identified this as Oviraptorid...a big deal if they are correct....but are they?! The Wealden claw Dromaeosaurid claw Oviraptorid claw

Read about the waurika oklahoma permian site on the forum. The directions, location and site description were perfect. I found many small pieces of bone, and teeth and incredible numbers of orthocanthus shark teeth. I have a two pieces that I would appreciate help with. The larger one is 17 to 20 mm (the diameter of a quarter) and the smaller is 5-8 mm in size and a tenth of it in weight. The smaller one looks like what I have seen called a small demetradon limbus claw, and a friend thought the larger was a diaductes incisor. I would appreciate help. The small claw? seems very small for demetradon, and the larger seems very curved for what little I have seen of diaductes. All help and suggestions will be appreciated. This is the only permian material I have ever collected, I have no background to go on.

Out Hunting today with friends, I found a rarity for me.. a small claw!!!! I looked for comparison photos but the photos are not detailed enough... SO, what animal produced this claw. 24 mm in length

I saw this item for sale. The dealer calls it "unknown tooth or ck=law. Dino? Sadly, no provenance information is offered. It appears to be agatized. There are a few cracks that may have been repaired, but it doesn't appear frankenstinian. What are folks' thoughts on legitimacy as well as ID? thanks

I know the general shape is right for a spinosaur toe claw, but I know spinosaur claws are a significantly faked thing, so getting someone who really knows what they're looking at, is the way to go!

My Theropod Claw for Your Shark Teeth

Greetings friends! I am in need of shark teeth for my traveling education program. I am looking to create a display that has shark teeth showing the evolution from Otodus to Megalodon. To obtain these I am posting up for trade a Theropod claw from the Hell Creek formation that was found in Montana. Claw measures just over an inch in length. So I am in need of any of the following teeth: Carcharocles auriculatus Carcharocles angustidens Carcharocles Chubutensis Carcharocles Megalodon I need them to be in good condition to show the serrations, changing of the cusplets, and ideally all in the 2-3 inch range to make it a nice consistent sized display. Howdy y’all, I picked up this claw a while ago and wanted to see if an ID was possible. It came from the hell creek and measures at just over an inch long. I saw that Anzu Wylei is hollow and I wasn’t sure if the hollow tube running through it confirms that ID. Thanks everyone!
