Hi all. Found my first Florida creek meg!! It's broken but holy cow, the feeling of when I saw it in the screen!!! I'll gladly take it. Went on a fossil hunting tour this past weekend on a creek near the Peace River. Found some awesome other stuff as well. Water was so low!!!

Hey Everyone, Wife has decide to join me tomorrow morning. I really enjoy her company and our time out there. Wondering if anyone can help me locate an easy access point to a creek , or area, that might produce some ammonites near Fort Worth. I have a couple species I am looking for in that area. I have not hunted Fort Worth except Lake Worth. Thanks on advance for any suggestions, George

I was splitting open some Mazon Creek nodules I've had for a while about a half hour ago when this enigma popped out, I have no clue what it is. The nodule is from Pit 11.

I’m hoping someone can help me out with this ID- it is driving me nuts!! I have looked through all my books twice but I can’t find a match. I was thinking skull or pelvis of some sort but I can’t seem to pinpoint it. Southern gulf coast FL creek

I passed this by assuming it to be a cigarette butt. Later on @Lone Hunter handed it to me saying this looks like a cigarette butt. It was found loose in Bear Creek, likely Eagle Ford formation, in the Fort Worth area. Any idea what it is ?

This was found by my spouse and me a few years back in a North Alabama creek. We had not seen anything quite like it, so we decided to take it home to display. Now, I’m curious if it may be some type of fossil or something that others may know what it is. It’s definitely very solid like a rock. Thanks for any information.

Found this strange fossil in a creek in Austin Texas. It’s been sitting around for a while, I’ve tried to look it up but I have had no luck. Im hoping someone more knowledgeable can help me out. The photo of the second fossil is included because of the strange engraving on it. It appears to be almost a swirl but I have no idea what might have caused it.

Found this on the edge of creek along Austin trail.. We find lots of shells there, bivalves, etc, but one side of it seems to be a bony structure. Google search isn’t helping. Thank you!

I went to my local spot, Henson creek, and decided to check things out. I arrived and found some stingray and sand tiger shark teeth. I stumbled upon what I thought was bone, it totally turned out not to be bone. I am very happy about this find, even though it was the only thing of significance found today it doesn’t matter. It’s so perfect. It will probably be a while before I find another otodus tooth that size again! Here’s the photos: The total length is over 1.5 inches, and would probably be hitting 1.75 if complete. What a screamer, I will never again question this creeks ability to produce killer teeth.

Hey guys, I have a special creek site close to me in South Florida. it yields marine fossils of every kind and even some artifacts. I have found many pieces of dugong bone with a strange circular indentation, and I’m really hoping someone can help me out with determining what causes this? I have found fossils of a huge variety of Pliocene/Miocene marine animals, and dugong bones are the only bones with such markings. There is a raised center and an almost perfect circular depression around it.

I don't even know which direction to go, geological or biological, and given the weird concretions and burrows in Eagle Ford don't know where this fits in so looking forward to answer

So I have decided to do some exploration digs in my area (Salem County) just because there isn’t much mentioned for spots and it’s not more than 1 hour in any direction for me to search. Found an area with a little help from some other individuals and the ROCKD app that put me on the Vincentown formation and had a slight success. Mostly found coral but did come up with this. Possible spike or claw? It is roughly 1 and 1/2” long. Just trying to see what it could be as not much is found in my area as of late.

Need some confirmation, or correction, on couple jaws found this week, same creek, does contain Pleistocene material. Pretty sure modern raccoon, but the other not positive it's beaver, no orange teeth, and I've never found a bone this dark in this creek. Could it be anything else fossil, like baby giant beaver?

We met up with a new friend and explored more of a creek we found a few weeks ago. The area has a few clay and shale exposures, and so far we've found several small teeth from a couple different sharks. Today's finds include a turtle, a couple small teeth, a couple of ammonites, a couple pieces of bone, a possible Indian artifact, and a game camera. (We're working on figuring out who the camera belongs to so we can return it.) Not bad for central Texas!

So, the part of creek this came from is composed of QT, QAL, and antique glass it seems. There are plenty of fossils too, when I washed out sand from this bottle the little shell was left, and I have tried to get it out but afraid of breaking it. All the recent shells in this creek are from Asian clams and mussels, from what I can tell this looks more like oyster shape. Got the best pictures possible through the pitted glass, so could this be a fossil?

Hey All, Spent some time in Sherman, Texas the other day doing a lot of creek walking on the Post Oak Creek and came across an arrowhead, a ton of shark teeth and some other shells and stuff on the gravel bars but this tooth is making us scratch our heads and we need some extra eyes. Any kind of help would be appreciated, thank you

Hi we are new quick snap shot father along with young son have the itch after exploring family owned creeks. Attach are a few interesting finds, we have also found coral as well as encrusted oyster shells after large rains. We are in western North carolina for reference. Appreciate anyones help and excited to be able to ask.

Hello everyone, First time posting here so sorry if I mess this up or offend anyone for a newbie asking for some ID help. On a recent trip to some of our Northern New Jersey spots, I’ve come across two things I have never found before and one vertebrae that I was hoping someone could maybe point me in a direction towards. All from Holmdel area. Images 1 and 2 is possibly coprolite? Has small “shell like” crust to it in some spots. 3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9 is a small tooth in a piece of jaw bone or a claw piece possibly? Last four is the vert found. Roughly the size of a quarter. Never have found one this size. Not complete but any ideas? Thanks so much in advance! Jeff Kiger

Anyone have any idea what this is? Found it in a creek just outside the town of Summerville. It’s definitely a fossil, it has an internal histology. The back part extended longer before it broke digging it out (it’s incredibly fragile). I’m thinking it might be some type of fossil coral, otherwise I have no idea, even with researching it online. I found it next to some associated pieces of a sea turtle shell in a lag deposit, lots of phosphate nodules surrounding it. Very brittle, just like the sea turtle shell, and of the same color as the turtle shell. Weird.

Hi, guys! I am new to the world of fossil hunting. I have done some fossil-hunting up in New Jersey at Big Brook preserve but live in northern Alabama. Can anybody point me to areas in Alabama, Eastern Mississippi, or South Central to Southwestern Tennessee? I need areas where you don't have to have a boat to get to them. What little fossil-hunting I've done is always been in creek beds or on beaches. I know my area of Alabama doesn't have shark teeth but I've heard that you can find them in the southern part of the state. I just can't find anything online giving me areas to look. Now that football season is getting ready to start, I'm going to be a "football widow" on weekends and would love to spend that time out hunting. Thank you!

Found this on gravel bank in creek close to DFW, in a narrow band of Alluvium smack dab in middle of Fluviatile terrace deposits. I'm not sure what to make of it, appreciate input!

Help me ID this Find from a creek bed in texas! Possibly fish scales?

I collected this fossil many years ago as a kid, from a very rocky creek bed in Gorman, Texas. North Central Texas. No idea as to the geological age of the area. The "scales" have a slightly curved face that rises from the center to the sides, but not front and back. They also seem to be leaned on top of another similar to how normal scales are, all pointing the same direction. Almost looks as though the back side of the specimen has bone fragments visible? To my untrained eye, this what I assumed. From my own research, so far I assume it could be from a fish, similar to Lepidote? I'm an amature, so I'm really not sure. Any help identifying would be very appreciated!

Hey all, I found this in a South Jersey creek gravel bed. The particular spot is in the Navesink bedrock formation, but I'm unsure of how exposed it is (if at all.) I haven't found much in the way of fossils in this particular spot except a possible burrow and a possible oyster shell. I initially thought it was an odd looking concretion, but I cleaned it up and had second thoughts. It's extremely porous (passed the tongue test), which made me think bone. It's also very heavy. Please let me know if more pictures or information would help. Thank you in advance!
