My Jurassic Park - Birds/Ptero/Unknown Hell Creek & Lance Formations
Troodon posted a topic in Member Collections
Bird and Pterosaur material is extremely rare in the Hell Creek and Lance Formations. Over the years I've purchased and found a few bones that I believe fit this category but not certain. Some may be mammal or reptilian. I'm not a bird guy so if you see something that does not seem right please let me know. Not a lot is published so I'm always open to learning. I showed this to a well respected theropod paleontologist and the potential ID's were his thoughts Aviasaurus sp. ID : Hxmendoza- 37 replies

How do we know these teeth came from Cretaceous birds?
ThePhysicist posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
I've seen several teeth that are purportedly from Cretaceous avian dinosaurs/birds, specifically Avisaurus sp. I've done some light digging, but I don't yet know how these teeth can be assigned to a bird. My thinking was that you need an identifiable jaw with these teeth, but I couldn't find any such literature on Avisaurus at least. My other guess is that they closely match the morphology of other Enantiornithine bird teeth? In any case, I'd be much obliged if someone could pass along some relevant paper(s). These are examples of Avisaurus archibaldi posted by @Auspex:- 6 replies
