From the album: 1925 Body & Trace Fossil Collection - Ocean
These are the three segments of Ammonoids in the collection that are easy to ID. Because the Ammonite came in many shapes and sizes, it is hard for me to say if these are segments of the same ammonite or three separate specimens. These still have dirt on them and didn't know if I should clean them or leave them alone? Ammonite 01 has a tube that is loose, the 'tube' would be the siphuncle used in adjusting the buoyancy in ammonoids and nautiloids in ammonites it is located ventrally and is more central in nautiloids. I assume because all of the fossil collection is either stone or amber, no further decay is happening? I would like to clean the dirt from the pieces but would hate to find out that the dirt was needed for further studies? I will also be adding the shells, clams and fish as I get them ready© GOD's Design 2019
