Agatized dinosaur egg from India recognized in museum collection
Oxytropidoceras posted a topic in Fossil News
Sparkly Rock in Museum Turns Out to Be 60-Million-Year-Old Dinosaur Egg In a remarkable find, a lustrous mineral formed inside a fossilized titanosaur egg. Gizmodo, Natural History Museum of London The first known dinosaur egg? A new discovery from the Museum's collection Josh Davis, Natural History Museum of London. Yours, Paul H. -
I found at least 20 or 25 of these over a period of 7 or 8 years. Found in the bend in a creek and each year, after spring rains there would be 3 or 4 more exposed. If you break them open, the center is yellowish colored and easily comes out of the egg. I was 8 years old when I first found one, and jokingly called them dinosaur eggs, but as I found more and got older, I realized they probably were real dinosaur eggs, so most of those 25 or so were broken open or given away. I've only got two unopened now and one that I broke open left. You can clearly see parts of the shell, on the bottom and the top right side. Unfortunately, my three YO granddaughter peeled a fair amount of shell off.

New paper describing Dinosaur eggs with embryos. Check out those teeth in Fig 5 Abstract says it all Dinosaur eggs containing embryos are rare, limiting our understanding of dinosaur development. Recently, a clutch of subspherical dinosaur eggs was discovered while blasting for a construction project in the Upper Cretaceous red beds (Hekou Formation) of the Ganzhou Basin, Jiangxi Province, China. At least two of the eggs contain identifiable hadrosauroid embryos, described here for the first time https://bmcecolevol.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12862-022-02012-x

Why men collect things? A case study of fossilised dinosaur eggs.

More ludicrous "Dinosaur eggs"
Aurelius posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I saw these beauties on a popular auction site a few days ago. They are described as authentic dinosaur eggs. Clearly, they are anything but, and they appear to be simple septarian nodules. Anybody interested in how to determine whether a dinosaur egg is fake or not should do a forum search, since the subject has been comprehensively covered. This first one, you'll be fascinated to know, actually shows the preserved embryo. They have a couple of hundred watchers, and are already at a remarkable price for ordinary rocks. I informed the seller that they were not dinosaur eggs, in the interest of giving them the benefit of the doubt. They thanked me, but a day later they are still online, so I know what I think about that.- 3 replies

Hi, I often see sellers from China wetting the dinosaur eggs to highlight the shell structure. Does washing up of the egg fossil damage the fossil or increase the risk of breaking apart?

A new oviraptorosaur discovery is out: http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2017/05/smuggled-dino-eggs-gave-birth-baby-dragons Beibeilong represents the third caenagnathid from Asia, further improving the fossil record of Asian caenagnathids and solving the mystery of the dino embryos in giant dinosaur eggs called Macroelongatoolithus. It's therefore apparent that giant egg-thief dinos were common in the Turonian-Maastrichtian interval.

We see lots of dinosaur eggs from Asia, occasional eggs from France and very spotty from the Two Medicine of Montana and Alberta. Lets not also forgot the tons of mimic ones. This month's SVP journal describes the first fossil egg and eggshells from the Hell Creek Formation. The paper states that despite over 100 years of intense exploration, the terrestrial rocks of the Hell Creek Formation are void of fossil eggs. The paper describes the first fossil egg and additional eggshell fragments from the Formation. The two-layered structure of the smooth 1600 µm thick eggshell of Belonoolithus garbani permits assignment of the 6 cm x 8 cm to theropoda. The material was found in Garfield County, Montana near the Fort Peck Reservoir Other eggshell material described in the paper are described in this table 1 Table 2 compares the egg or eggshell fragments distributed in Montana and Alberta Paper is to large to post...
