From the album: South Sulphur River Texas

I hit a new spot in Northeast Texas. This area is a mix or cretaceous and pleistocene. The rooted mosasaur tooth and my first croc tooth made my day. Both are super rare for this area. I also found the largest Enchodus jaw I've found since I started hunting four years ago.

although cracked in half just wondering with the hollow center,fish tooth Enchodus or small croc ? thanks

Greetings, I recently bought a fossil vertebra from a moroccan seller who claimed it was a Plesiosaurus vertebra, and through I did not believe him I made a deal with him and I got the fossil for a cheap price. My guess it that it belongs to an Otodus chark or an Enchodus fish, is a quite big vertebrae anyway... What do you think? Thank you very much in advance.

Are there any papers/articles on Enchodus being in the Kem Kem formation? Also does anyone have any specimens they'd like to show off here because I read here that some people have specimens of it, and it just hasn't been described. -
I finished prepping this Enchodus jaw section last year but was undecided about repairing/replacing the tip of the tooth. Comments/suggestions?

I had a few finds at the North Sulphur River Texas yesterday. All the bars were covered in mud so it made for hard hunting. The tiny mosasaur tooth was my favorite find of the day.

Fun hunt yesterday. I found some huge broken sawfish teeth, shark teeth, enchodus jaw and teeth, mosasaur verts, big heart clam which I've never found in the Sulphur river area and a killer petrified wood Gary point. It got hot around 2PM so I got out early.

I found this vertebra last week in a Cretaceous deposit in Monmouth County New Jersey. It measures a shade under an inch and is a lot bigger than the normal fish vert I usually find here so I wanted to ask - is there a way to tell the difference between Enchodus and Xiphactiuns vetus? My initial thought was Enchodus but I didn't see any examples online that looked like this one. Also, any recommendation on how I should prep this? I only showed one side because the rest of this is embedded in the matrix. I currently use really old dental tools. Thanks! -Frank

Hi! I am new to this forum and have been asking some questions the last two days! I found this fossil in sale by a very reputable seller. As it is going to be my first big fossil I would like to know your opinions about it! Is it a good example of this species? Fun day on the North Sulphur River Texas. We saw some cool wildlife. Here's my finds. A nice mix of pleisosaur, mosasaur, enchodus, shark, turtle, horse, coprolite and artifacts.

Laying thick in the mud after a torrential rain. I'm certainly not proficient but was thinking Mosasaur tooth with root? Any ideas?

I had a fun hike at the North Sulphur River Texas yesterday. I figured it would be picked over but I found a pretty remote spot with my 4x4. The one sawfish tooth I found in a small creek a few days before. Everything else is from yesterday. It was a great day for Cretaceous coprolite (Poo). @GeschWhat The one coprolite is full of fish verts, bones and fins.

Greetings! I have in my collection what I believe to be a baby Enchodus marchesettii from Lebanon. The fish is about an inch long and bears a close resplendence to my adult Enchodus. I was wondering if anyone else here has a confirmed baby Enchodus and could send some pictures so I could compare! I'll hopefully get around to posting a picture of it soon!

Hello! It has been extremely rainy here in New Jersey the past few months month but I have found a few windows to check out the New Jersey Cretaceous streams in Monmouth County. As you would expect, the water levels have been high but at least the water temperature has finally warmed up! I figured I would share a few of my favorite finds over the past few months. They are, in order - an enchodus jaw section with teeth, a spondylus inside a Pycnodonte, two Mosasaur teeth (I really like the smokey blue colors on the smaller one), an echinoid, ammonite and baculite pieces, and ischyrhiza rostals, Cretaceous turtle shell, a gastropod, mosasaur tooth, bivalve, and enchodus fangs in the last picture.

These are fish teeth found in the north sulfur river in ladonia, tx. They are likely from enchodus.

I had a fun trip looking for shark teeth and artifacts yesterday at the North Sulphur River Texas. I found a large Enchodus tooth, nice shark tooth, mosasaur jaw section, other assorted fossils and some cool artifacts. Weather was perfect.

I walked in tracks all day hunting but still managed a few finds. I really like the coprolite full of little fish bones and the Pleistocene horse ankle bone. I believe the little fish jaw is Saurodon.

I went on a 6 1/2 mile kayak adventure with a couple of friends on the North Sulphur River. We started off the day at 7AM by seeing 2 bald eagles and almost getting one truck stuck in the mud. We managed to get the truck out and started our adventure. As soon as I got down by the bridge I found one of my best artifacts to date and a nice piece of mastodon tooth enamel. We got a mile or so in and something made me ask my friend if he had the keys to his truck that was parked 6 1/2 miles downstream? Lol he had left them in the other truck without thinking. He went back and got his keys and the adventure begin. We saw very little footprints the entire trip. We didn't find many artifacts but I filled up a 1 gallon ziplock with mosasaur bones and other random fossils. One of my friends found his first shark vert, mosasaur vert and point so he was really excited. I gave my new hunter friend all my lower quality items and didn't bother taking pics of them. The water was low in some places so we had to drag the kayaks a lot but it was fun. We were finding so much stuff that we realized we would never make it the other vehicle before night if we did not quit hunting and paddle. It was so hard passing by untouched bars lol. We managed to make it back to the bridge by 7PM which was 12 hours later. Getting the kayaks up the steep bridge at the second location took all 3 men and a long rope. I got home at 9:30 PM. I'm sore but found some great fossils and artifacts. My phone died early in the trip so I missed out on some great pics. For some reason I can only post a few pics at a time since the latest update.

Picked this up at a show over the weekend and was wondering exactly what it is and if its real. Is it an Endochus jaw? The host rock is about 7 inches long and the logest jaw piece is about 4 inches long. Thanks! Eric

Dear fellow forum goers, These past few weeks have been quite busy, but that has not stopped me from going on the occasional fossil excursion. A few trips went by since my last posting and I decided to let some trips accumulate before posting again. On these trips I interacted with forum members @Woopaul5 and @frankh8147. The most recent trip was today, 08/12/18, and was somewhat productive. Frank found what we believe to be a part of a mosasaur brain case, which will surely be in his "finds of the year list". I was not as luck but ended up scoring a small point fragment and a jaw section of some fish. There were also some nice quality teeth that I found today. Other than this trip, I scored some nice finds on a few other trips throughout the two months. I hope you enjoy the finds, as I enjoyed finding them, and have a nice day.
