Undescribed Eurypterus. Sam Ciruca referred to this form as "Eurypterus Laculatus" however that species is only known from an isolated carapace from the Morganville member of the Fiddlers Green formation. Collected by Dean Ruocco at Langs quarry.-

I thought you guys might wanna see some of my more complete pterygotids. Most are Acutiramus macrophthalmus. Most were found by me too in the Bertie group. Many thanks to Allan Lang for his extreme generosity to me. The big black blob on the mortality plate is from a massive pterygotid and I also attached a image of the biggest claw I found.

Hey all, Was curious if anyone knew if trilobites and eurypterids were ever found in association, and if so what species? It is interesting to me that trilobites tend to always be inflated and Eurypterids tend to be flattened and was mostly curious to also know if there are super flattened trilobites (non Cambrian) or more inflated eurypterids. Thanks for any info!

Hi everyone- i'm new to this but found a large fossil in my hedgerow today../ was hoping someone may be able to ID it for me. It's about 2" long and almost 1" wide. Quite deep. I live on a 20 acre farm in Rush NY near the Genessee River. I've got 2 long hedgerows that have been there since the 1800s., farmers have been throwing rocks that the plows turn up in them all this time. I've never seen one like this. Can anyone help? Kind regards, Christina

Hello to all. 3 samples from my collection. Place of find - Ukraine, Khmelnytsky region; age - Silurian, Ludlow Series (425-427 Ma). All samples have retained positive and negative. 1. Slab with several sea-scorpions Eurypterus Tetragonophtalmus. I think a good preparation will open as many as 2 or 3 sea-scorpions.

Hello all, I am a newer fossil hunter in the Buffalo, New York area. I am doing some personal research of the eurypterid in New York. Obviously with the eurypterid being the fossil of New York it does have high density in New York, more so upstate, but I am looking for some in the direct Buffalo area. I've read a few studies done by local paleontologists and geologists of it being found in the Lang's fossil quarry, Pittsford, as close as Holland, and just over the border in Fort Erie. With that said I think it's easy to then assume it's here in Buffalo, but don't know where to search. Has anyone had any luck in Buffalo? Or heard of places within the surrouding areas to have them?

I have just found this little coprolite? yesterday. This is the second time a coprolite-like fossil has turned up in the shale from the Leighton Fm. I am not really sure on this one, though, due to the presence of crinoid stems. The fossil(s) are from the Leighton Formation, Maine; which is Pridoli, Silurian. The main reason I think it is a coprolite is because of its situation in the shale. The rest of the shale around it is relatively uniform, with no fossils whatsoever. The fossils present in it are one crinoid stem, quite a few ostracods, a very small Orbiculoidea brachiopod, and an unidentified piece of rather bluish-black material in the center, possibly some sort of shell. My main concern for its identification as a coprolite is the wide range of rather large fossils in it. I don't know what animal would have had such a diet, except possibly a very large detritivore - but I don't know of any super large ones here. The only animals that I can think of producing coprolites in this formation would be eurypterids, phyllocarids, agnathan fish, and possibly trilobites. A coprolite of this size I would identify as an agnathan fish, but I would defer to some of our fish and coprolite experts for this. @jdp @GeschWhat Below are two photos of the two different sides of the coprolite. If you would like closeup photos of some of the fossils inside the coprolite, I have some available. Just did not want to overload this post with too many photos. Thanks in advance for your help everyone!

I have just finished preparing this little fossil. I really have not seen anything like it. It reminds me of a eurypterid head fragment, or something similar, but the ridges on the "internal mold" are perplexing. Also, it is horizontally symmetrical, suggesting a scale or segment. It is from the Leighton Formation, Maine; which is Pridoli, Silurian. The pictures below first show the "internal mold" under raking light, than of it under direct light. The third picture is of the "external mold" under direct light. It does not have any surface detail that would be brought out by raking light. Thanks in advance for your help!

I was given this Eurypterid fossil a while back and I was looking to see if anyone had any ideas towards a species, i’ve got no idea where it came from other than somewhere in the New England/Canada area. Someone has told me it looks like an Adelophthalamus but id like some more opinions. Thank you

Hello! Recently I’ve had the chance to go fossil hunting for trilobites, in central New York. I’ve been to the hill site in Tully NY, behind the hotel. I was fortunate enough to find a fairly complete Greenops Trilobite, and a few smaller, less complete sections. I spilt open a section of rock, and saw what I thought was part of a large trilobite eye at first. I’m not too familiar with the types of fossils that can be found here, but the texture seemed similar to a small piece of the head of a eurypterid. I’ve never found a eurypterid before, and it’s been on my list for a while, so maybe it’s just me being hopeful. I’m not even sure if eurypterids can be found at the site I was at. I was hoping some one could help identify what I found, and hopefully learn more about what can be found here in CNY.
