I recently took a trip to the Iron Hill Museum in Newark, Delaware. (Which has amazing displays by the way. Its small, but fascinating.) There, I bought a small bag of about 10 fossils. I knew what most of them were, but there are a few I am unsure of what they actually are. I was wondering if anyone on the Forum could help me. All I know is that all of the Fossils were found in either Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania. Unfortunately I will have to upload these each in separate posts as it won't let me upload more than 3.95 MB. (Yell at me all you want if you have found a way around it.) 1. This one I was told that this is some kind of bone fragment. 2. This is also another bone fragment. 3. I think this is a bone fragment. 4. I know this is a vertebra but I am not sure what kind. I am pretty sure it is marine. 5. This is some kind of tooth. 6. No idea.

Hey all, I found this slab of rock in a Linn County, IA creek this spring and I'm not sure how these patterns might have formed. Are they trace fossils from something? Did they form for normal geological processes? It's hard to pin down age of rocks in a creek like this, but most of our exposures are Devonian or Silurian. Thanks!

I guys I have a large amount of unidentified fossils (40+). I was hoping you guys can Identify them for me. All were found in eastern NC (Aroura or Emerald Isle beach) Thanks, for any help. I have them numbered for easy reference. I also have them next to quarters and pennies for size reference. The quarter is 1 inch tall and wide and pennies are .75 inch tall and wide I can take more pics upon request 1.

Hello! I work in a place that involves a lot of hiking along trails, and I've found myself tripping over fossils every day. Until now, all have been very clearly crinoids and brachiopods. This one threw me off a bit, and I was hoping to get some insight on what it might be! Also, I'll get more pictures by the end of tomorrow (different angles, scale, etc) - I snapped a quick pic and then promptly forgot it at work, oops. (And yes, I do have permission to keep fossils found there, but I intend to find something less common than crinoids and brachiopods for the owner's grandson) Location info: Northeast Ohio, summit county. Found partially buried along a trail, lots of brachiopods and crinoids in the area.

Hello, I'm a new member to the Fossil Forum, could someone please help me ID these teeth? I found the larger, blacker tooth this morning on a sandbar of a creek in Linn County, Iowa. My wife found the smaller tooth on the same little sandbar about a year ago. I have found several bison teeth in the many other locations I have walked up and down this river, but these two have been stumping me. These are the only teeth we have found so far that still have roots intact which leads me to believe that they did not travel very far in the creek. These may or may not be from the same animal, but two strange teeth from the same spot makes me wonder if that could be the case. The smaller one has a stylid, but even the small one is thicker than the bison teeth that I have. Two photos compare size to a modern bison jaw. Small tooth: Width: 26mm Thickness at top: 16mm Enamel height: 32mm Large tooth: Width:29mm Thickness at top: 27mm Enamel height: 14mm

Hello I'm the newbie. My name is Charlotte. I am trying. Desperately to find someone in Texas that can I'd my fossils. Boy do I think I found the unfound. Bet it's been heard before so not to boar anyone . Have a few questions first . How rare is it to find fossilized embryo? And or how rare is it to find fossils fossilized in rock. With their tissue, like skin, bone , eyes? Please help me to know who to talk to. And or call. I'm positive I've got something historical. Just tried. To contact many different avenues to I'd but to no response or slow response I'm going crazy. Please help. Thank You , Charlotte.

Alright I know, I should know better. But the price was right and I was having a good week so I needed something to shatter my hopes and dreams. That out of the way. Listed as a "US acid - prepped specimen" Self explanatory. Back Right foot Tippy Tip of the tail Right ribs My biggest question is the specks of material between the ribs. Is this common on real Keichosaurs? To me on the overall picture they appear to be the ends of the ribs broken off from the underside. I will also note that almost every bone on this little guy is 3D above the rock surface. I was having trouble getting a good side view with my camera, I will try again, but figured you could all start with these! Thanks much as always, -Blake

Hello all: I'm sorry to be one of "those" newbies but I was fossil hunting today and I have absolutely no idea what, if anything, I've found. I pulled it out of a chunk of clay at the Calvert Cliffs State Park, so I guess this is from the Miocene. It's pretty hard but came out in two pieces (see pictures). It caught my eye because it's so perfectly round... It's probably something obvious to you experts but I don't have a clue. I tries image searching but nothing looks right... Thanks so much for your time and ideas!

I hammered this free from a chunk of ironstone. Ironstone matrix. I thought it was completely round like a marble nut the more I inspected I see some traits that this is a designed specimen with a symmetrical pattern and some unique patterns. Any ideas?

Hello everyone! I found this fossil in Valencia, Spain. It's from the lower cretaceous but I cant be more accurate. I dont know what it is but I assume it's some kind of bivalve or gastropod but cant find the specie. I recorded a video and uploaded on youtube, hope u can see it well, if not let me know and I will try to show you better. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

G'day, I was recently splitting some leftovers from the Belmont insect beds (Permian) from NSW, Australia and I found what appears to be an insect wing. Its preserved differently than the Glossopteris in the formation with a shiny surface (not visible in photos). But I thought it could also be half of a glossopteris leaf. So, any ideas? (I am referring to the dark shape just above the ruler)

Hello everyone, I'm from Belgium and currently tasked with securing a secondary fossil collection owned by the grandfather of my husband. We are emptying an attic, and securing quite a number of fossils. Many of them already have an ID, some of them however lack one. Apologies in advance for the poor quality of pictures, there is little to no light/electricity inside the rooms we need to vacate, so picture quality will be appalling at first. I am aiming for a basic ID here, if possible I might be able to provide more detailed pictures once the fossils have been properly packed and moved. #1 : Could this be a dinosaur egg? #2: vertebrae of different sizes + plate of petrified wood in the background. Looking for possible ID on these vertebrae. #3: Petrified wood, which type? #4 : Small crustacean? #5: Fossilized shell from morocco? #6: Partial fossilized jaw? #7: Belemnoidea, the two in the front? Hey Guys needed a little help with few things I found today. I'm assuming shark or fish vert in the one pic. I'm most interested in the small...... im guessing bone not sure if its an older rodent bone or what. Funny I found a deer tooth today while sifting kinda freaked me out looked like a human tooth white. Thanks

thought id try another one since you guys helped so much on the last one, I found this in a draw on the bluffs id call it mudstone but the fossil stuck out, ive been told its just a brachiopod but I'm not sold just yet, what do you guys think?

Hi there, I'm new to the fossil forum, and was hoping I could get help in identifying this jaw. It was found in Marmarth, North Dakota in the Hell Creek Formation. I don't have any more specifics on location besides that. I hope the pictures are detailed enough, but if not, I can post more. I am thinking it has to be some kind of fish, but I am not completely sure. Any direction or help would be wonderful! Thank you so much!

Hello again! Finally took some pictures of the rocks I was referring to in previous posts. These are the reason I asked for help ID previous rocks. I never new what coprolite was until I tried to find a reason why these rocks look the way they do. In person, they look like they contain chunks of turtle/lizard/fish/eggs/shellfish/etc type stuff, I believe what is referred to as inclusions. But it could just be some funky conglomerate. Either way I’m hoping someone can explain why they look the way they do! There’s about 20 or so of these on my property, just grabbed some and snapped some photos. I wish I had better lighting/camera so detail could be seen. Thanks for your time in advance! And if you have any thoughts please let me know! Property is located in residential Menlo Park, California (between San Francisco and San Jose), very close to the San Francisquito Creek. some were just laying on top of the ground, others were below and found when doing some yard work digging. Easier to to see the individual parts when rocks are wet as the colors pop, as supposed to blending in as a slightly reddish brown mud. Some seem to have a “skin” if you will around them, like a layer that can be rubbed off, allthough i have noticed once i rub it off the inclusions, a couple days later the colors seem to have faded. Also many of The inclusions that stick out of the rock give the appearance that they have been scratched off or bitten off, possibly just from hitting other rocks as well. The black inclusions are the easiest to see in the photos, however they are only a small fraction of the reptilian/crustacean/fish/ i dont know shapes that you can see

I found this today on the beach under a clay cliff, it is known for agate And chalcedony to be found on this beach, what would I call this, it looks like some sort of a bone maybe?
