Hello! I am M3GAL0DON_M4N, a very new fossil hunter and purchaser from Australia. My collection has only being going for about 6 months give or take. I am not too active, apart from on weekends, as I have school (I may go extinct from the homework). I have already posted wayyy too much, as you probably have noticed. I realised that I probably should introduce myself out of politeness. I sadly must admit I won’t really be able to help out, as I am quite new and young. I am always willing to learn from anyone who offers knowledge. I hope that we all learn together, and help each other to greatness in the fossil community.

Hi, I grew up walking the fields of our family farm. But it's only now as an adult that I've begun actually researching what they all are, and sorting through which finds I should keep and which ones I should move along. Mainly because my 'cool rock' collection has begun taking up a lot of space! Looking forward to hopefully identifying some, and also seeing everyone else's finds!

Hello everyone! I have been fascinated with rocks for as long as i can remember, and fossils even more so. I am a displaced Arizona native currently living in Las Vegas. When I first moved here, I was a little depressed about the lack of varied rocks and minerals here compared to AZ, until I found that there are tons of fossils in this barren desert! I think they're fossils anyway...I'm sure this forum will help me determine that. Thanks for accepting me as a member and happy hunting!!

Hi everyone, I'm new here. Decided it was high time i got back into things that i always enjoyed but for some reason or other as i got older i no longer seemed to have time for. I have some great memories as a kid going fossil hunting with my grandfather and have always enjoyed the outdoors and still regularly go tramping. I've recently been out on a couple of hunts by myself in North Canterbury hoping to find an eroded crab to give my son for his birthday, most recently yesterday taking advantage of what seemed to be lower than normal tides, but only came back with concretions that may or may not contain something . I have to start somewhere though :-) I did find a few old bones in the rocks though and a couple of other interesting pieces, maybe a tooth or 2 embedded in rock still that i will post over in the ID section to see if im just imagining it. Hopefully i get out again sometime soon.

I found this years ago on a school trip on the Isle of Wight, the fossil hunter on our day out wanted to buy it off me, but being a kid I didn’t want to sell it, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what it is? Also, if it’s worth anything? as he was keen to have it, many thanks, Hannah

Greetings from the UK!! I'm so glad I signed up, so many cool topics!! I'm English and am always on the lookout for fossils (not found anything major yet just a few Ammonites) and I have always been interested in paleontology. I was going to study it at university but I was limited in my options so I took my next favourite thing Zoology!! I'm always open to tips and tricks and enjoy reading about interesting fossils found over the world. I am planning trips to Scotland, East Yorkshire and the Dorset coast to see if I'm in luck as those are the best places here! Happy days!

Hello Everyone My name is Thomas Schmid, I am an avid fossil hunter and collector. I am based out of Western New York, I travel all over NY to public and private dig sites and in general will probably be hunting and digging and prepping fossils until the day i die, in which case i will donate some of my most incredible and rare fossil finds to Museums and the Buffalo Geological Society. I specialize in Upper to Lower Devonian, and early Ordovician deposits. I am self educated in Paleography and in Ancient Paleo-fauna, but i love to learn from anybody that can teach me whatever they can or are willing to. I am looking to learn more about fossil prepping, i do have A Sioux pneumatic air scribe and dremel. But i am looking to learn more about safely using chemicals to remove shale and excess matrix in certain speciems where i have great intact fossils with spotty areas loaded with the soft shale that i cannot remove as i do not have a air abrasive scribe (yet). I am happy to be a new member, and i hope i find the other "fossil nuts" to talk "shop" with i lack in my everyday life (haha!) ~Thank you~ For an example of the Devonian fossils i am finding and basing my written thesis on, exhibit A in the picture provided is my finest find to date! Enjoy and i look forward to being a contributing member to this community and to learn from you all I also run my own Business Ancient Art & Jewelry as i do buy or trade and sell domestic (to the states) and exotic fossils in events shows and venues and museum shows. I also make jewelry out of the Fossils i find and buy, mostly what i find though! (Devonian) If anybody ever finds interest in seeing what i make for a holiday or regular gift i think it would be more appropriate to message me. I don't want to advertise things on this site as i am more than happy to do my shows. I prefer to learn and teach and enjoy the resources this Community/Forum provides. Thank you kindly, ~Tom
