Trilobites - knockoff or real?
SharkySarah posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I inherited a fossil and rock collection…. Not labeled or anything! Totally stressful. I have two trilobite fossils. How do I know if it’s real or fake? -
Need your help. I’m going to be in the Venice area next week for a few days. Can anyone tell me the real impact the current red tide situation is having on the area? Are people able to search beaches for fossils without having effects of red tide? Is the water ok to swim in?

Can any of you tell me what type of fossil this might be? I found it in Shelbyville, Indiana in the mud. As I soaked it, the holes started appearing and where the holes are, there is flash. Of course, my eyes instantly played tricks on me because it looks like a skull of some kind, but I don't trust my eyes anymore. Some of the pictures I took with the flash and then some without hoping for the best views. Thank you in advance!

Hi All, Glad I came across this forum as I found this whilst on the beach at Charmouth with the kids. We picked up the usual ammonites and belemnites but something about this looked interesting when I plucked it out of the mud at the bottom of the cliff. I have no idea what it could be the shapes looked potentially 'bone like'. Any ideas or is it just a funny shaped rock...?

I found this in a creek in eastern North Carolina that cuts through Cretaceous Bladen formation sediments. I thought it was a weirdly shaped rock at first, but looking at it closer, it looks like a fossil. There is a flat surface with some regularly placed bands, similar to a ray or fish grinding plate. I have no idea what this is. Anyone have any ideas? The bands above ^^^ are faint in the pic, but they are definitely there, much easier to see just looking at them with your eye.

Hi, I also found this in the " Roding River" located in the " Aniseed Valley of Nelson, New Zealand. At first, i thought petrified wood, but my friend who is a wood carver of several years, has assured me this is not wood... Quite heavy, not sure exactly how heavy, but i can weigh it if that helps? Any help much appreciated! Cheers!

Hey guys, I’m back again with a fossil identification help request. This one came from the Dallas Texas area, it is Cretaceous in age. I’m not sure of formation info, but it’s some kind of bone. I’m hoping it’s even identifiable and if any other pictures might be helpful let me know. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi! I found this bone on a remote, virgin beach in northern Iceland just the other day. I’m completely green when it gets to those topics and have thus no idea what it can have come from. Possibly a piece of a large fish or seal vertebra? Any ideas? Can anybody help me identify the bone?
