While walking the beach my wife found this oddly shaped rock. She was looking for “ heart shaped” rocks but after looking at it a bit it seemed like it has a margin where the tooth enamel might have been. That tooth face also has what seems like microscopic tubulas which might have once been the dentin. It’s certainly not pristine as it does have a defined point. It’s about 3-3.5 inches at the longest points. It could just be a rock but I was curious your opinion

Hey TFF! First post! Not making my appearance with a bang, but had a decent quick trip to the Potomac, about an hour and 15 minutes. Nice handful of sea glass, decent amounts of ray plates and turritella. A few solid sand tigers. And what I believe to be a small, busted otodus in the palm of my hand. I usually always come away with at least one small complete otodus, so when I don’t, it makes a great day fossil hunting turn into merely a very good day 🤷🏻♂️. Let me know what you think!

Hello everyone, ive recently been offerred this 80cm long bone cluster. The seller said he doesnt know much about it but he said it probably came from a pterosaur. In my opinion it probably came from an azdarchid living in a coastal region based on the shark tooth that was found with the fossil. This fossil was found in Oulad Abdoun area, in the city of Khouribga, Morroco

Monterey Formation (Miocene) shell fossils - Arroyo Seco Canyon - Central California Coast Range
ezeemonee posted a topic in Member Collections
Found in Miocene period Monterey formation in Arroyo Seco canyon of Central California Coast Range. Trochita is an undescribed species known from this formation. Others are mostly Brachiopods (Discinisca lamellosa) which surprisingly is not extinct and still lives in some oceans, Scallops (Pectenidae), Venus Clams (Veneridae), Ark Shells (Anadara/Scapharca), and an unknown Moon Snail (Nacticidae). Most found in 2024, some in 2019. Added a few pics of the nice scenery in the canyon. Trochita specimen is noteworthy as being in good condition with surface detail and may get donated to the California Academy of Sciences collection.- 2 replies
