    Fossilised Gastropod ID

Hi all, I found some snail fossils and was wondering if I could get them ID'd or even given a ball park age! Location Wollongong Australia. Driving home at the moment but can update with measurements if needed once I'm near a tape measure. Would estimate around 3-4cm or around 1.5inches at their widest part.
  6. This looks like a bone to me. Please help me figure out what these are
  7. I bought this fossil at a fossil show yesterday. Seller said it was a Starfish from Morocco. He had a few but only this one had another fossil next to it. He didn't know what it was. Does anyone know what is next to starfish? Was he even right about this being from Morocco? Also anyone know what type of starfish it is?

    Help identify please

Can anyone help figure out what these heavy rocks are?
  9. Would it be beneficial to store fossils in plastic bags that are air tight to stop moisture for going in and out of them? I also dried out some fossils and was wondering if storing them this way would be beneficial?

    Plant or Animal?

It's probably nothing but this looks plant-like to me but then it's got the shape of a plant eaters tooth just without the enamel. Either way here some pictures of my plant tooth...oh & I almost forgot. Was found in SE Missouri in the vicinity of the Doe Run formation & the dimensions are 1.5"T x 1"D x 1.5"W
  12. Hey all! I have been building out (slowly) my prep lab and learning a ton! Early this year I invested in a air scribe and went with the Chicago Pneumatic CP9361 Air Scribe. I'm trying to locate information on different tips that would be applicable to this model but not coming up with much. Does anyone have any experience with this model and have any recommendations on either replacement or other tips that would be applicable to this model? My prep is mostly working with shale from south IN, OH, KY and Utah. Any help would be appreciated! ... (wife doesn't know this yet, but I'm looking into an air abrasive system next Thanks! Steve

    Ordovician moulds of ?

The picture represents the 2 moulds of the same decalcified specimen. Scale bar 5mm. I say that's from the Ordovician, but not where's from (I know any pubblication about this continent, so it's better be open to every idea).

Wondering what this is a fossil of

Wondering what the smaller impression is that looks like a circle with lines all around it. I am obviously very new to this. Our creek bed and land has fossils on almost any rock you pick up.

    New to the Fossil Game

Howdy y'all!!! (Sorry had to start this post off sounding all Texan because Texas is awesome, haha). So, obviously i'm from Texas, like you couldn't tell already. I am a 34 year old England-born, Texas-raised mother of 3 children (15yo/13yo/5yo). My husband and I were high school sweethearts and we're together for 16 years. He has recently (15 months ago) passed away. I have only recently started collecting fossils/gemstones/rocks. My late husband was always into rocks, he and our oldest daughter would compare rocks almost everyday, the days they didn't my washing machine was usually extremely loud. After my husband passed away, my daughter kinda lost the joy she had for rocks. A few months ago I was going thru boxes and found a bunch of rocks, I started looking thru them and asked my oldest daughter about some of them. While she didn't have alot of information about the rocks she enjoyed telling me the stories of going with her dad walking and finding them or how her dad was so excited because he found this awesome rock and couldn't wait to show her and how no matter what the rock looked like that she would bring home, her dad always told her she had the coolest rock. I started to see her joy again while telling me her and dad's rock stories.
  17. Hi all, I’ve just purchased a large Agadir Ammonite from a dedicated fossil shop and am wondering if it at all real? I would appreciate any inclination!
  18. Hi everyone, I found what looks like bones fossils in a beach that has plant fossils from the Pensilvanian, mostly ferns. I see one smaller bone and a larger partial bone with the ball joint. They are both in the same block. Bone looking mineralization or fossil? If those are fossil bones I would assume some large land or amphibious animal to coexist with ferns. Hope someone can shed some light. Thank you, Marcos smaller bone larger partial bone back of the rock
  19. Good Morning. I am looking for a quiet compressor that allows me to use in a residential area. Preferably I would like to visit a shop. Does any one have any advice. I have the equipment to go with it. Thanks, Sue
  20. Not sure what this could be. I am pretty sure this is cambrian maxfield formation. Any guesses? (It might be possible that it is one of the other carboniferous limestones that lay above, but those usually look different and have different fossils)

    Nano or Rex?

Unfortunately, seller doesn't lnow beyond Hell Creek. Both are just over an inch long. 1, 2 and 3 = tooth 1 Now the base does indent slightly, but it is less rectangular and more rounded at the rear. So I would love an opinion on it. Picture 4, 5 and 6 is tooth 2. This looks partial? Though the photo of the base isn't head on (I've asked for extra pic), it looks sheared rather than complete? Pic 7= left is tooth 1, right is tooth 2. Thanks for the help.

As a rock enthusiast growing up I have fossils and rocks from all over the world. Now my 10 yr old daughter is developing a love of the same so I joined to help me with her interest. Took her to Ladonia fossil park and she was hooked.

    Found in France

Hi! My son found this in France in a river, region center , it’s quite unusual so I thought I’d show it to you guys. Any thought? IMG_3992.MOV
  24. Howdy y'all! I have found a few interesting things that I could use some help with ID. These are all either Eagle Ford, Del Rio or Georgetown Formation. Any help is appreciated! First are the teeth: Are these Protoshyraena teeth? That's what I was able to find online because they look an awful lot like Barracuda teeth I've found in the Miocene. 1 and 2 :Two teeth - top row and bottom row. Both are about 1/4 inch 3, Assuming this is some kind of Fish Tooth 1/8 inch 4. This is an odd thing. I have found Ray teeth here, but this doesn't look like anything I've seen. 1/8 inch 5. Not even sure if this is a tooth..possibly a spine? And now some other thingies: 6. I have found MANY of these things. I have no idea what they are. Part of a starfish? It's a weird little thing 7. Another little thing I'm finding quite a few of is this little foram. I'd love to get an ID on it. 8. And lastly, this odd little round bicolor thing! I have heard of fossil pearls being found in the Eagle Ford! But I think the indent precludes that idea:. Size 1/8 inch
