Hello everyone My name is Tomasz . After years in Asia I'm currently living in Poland. Recently I've found this "something" in my backyard, and this "something" is interesting enough to be fascinated by it. I like to think that this - maybe cycad or bennettitial fossil ? - can be 150 million years old

I got this fossil today. But it looks a little bit suspicious to me. Especially the color and the light yellow tips of the brittle star. Can you please have a look for me? Thanks.

I initially thought it was petrified wood, which I've found at this site before, but apart from a small piece that is missing this seems to be complete, not a broken off piece of petrified wood. And rather than having texture like bark on one side and wood on the other, both sides are similar, with a very clear crack lengthwise down the middle.

Frankenstein fossil skull ??
Siegchomimus posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello everyone, I found this fossil online and was interested in bying it, but upon closer inspection, I feel like it's kinda weid Looking..it's supposedly a skull of Canis (Xenocyon) falconeri from China. But the front teeth, espacially the canine are odd. And the snout look thick too. What do you think ? -
Hoping to determine species and exact structure in pic. This was found in Eaton county in 2021. It came out of material from the Pennsylvanian era, where other club moss casings and fossils have been found. First “cone” or “flower” I’ve come across. Will post more pics later today of this as well as some other pieces of other mosses I’ve collected over the years. Couple pics included without ruler just as teasers…

This was found in the peace river in Florida. I was told by a local guide it was ivory, but any way to tell what animal? I don’t see the crosshatch lines but it may be too small. Any ideas?

Hi there everyone! I acquired this plesiosaur tooth specimen from Oued Zem, Khouribga, Morocco not too long ago and I couldn't help but be fascinated by all of the different fossils found in the single piece of matrix. The front of the specimen contains a beautiful plesiosaur tooth with what I believe is a fish vertebrae and other fish material. On the back, the specimen is riddled with small shark teeth as seen by an exposed root and various exposed crowns. Though I'd greatly appreciate a positive ID on the plesiosaur tooth, I'm really more interested in the identification of the other fossils surrounding the tooth. I'm aware that accurately identifying the other fossils may be nigh impossible, but I'd love to hear what you guys think and I welcome any guesses you all may have just for the fun of it. Cheers, Rik

What are the fossil hunting laws at Capitola Beach in California?
DardS8Br posted a topic in Questions & Answers
What are the laws around collecting fossils in Capitola Beach, or really any beach in general in California? I want to go fossil hunting but I want to know what’s legal or what isn’t beforehand. -
I need some help. So I have a megalodon tooth that I accidentally dropped and the enamel started flaking off. I had applied some super glue and when I added some, it dripped down. I tried washing it off but it left a white crust and I was thinking about using some acetone but I think it might damage the enamel itself. What can I do.

I found this on the banks of Whitney Lake in Texas. I have no prior knowledge of fossils, and was hoping somebody who did could help me figure out what this is. Anything would help, thanks.

Hey everyone, I had to make a trip up to Spokane, Washington, to help my grandparents move. They’re moving in with us. While I was helping pack boxes, I found this rock in their garage. Obviously has fossils in it. My grandfather was kind enough to give it to me. Any idea what this is? Is it even a fossil? I am attaching pictures.

Picked up at a yard sale in Nor Cal. It has the appearance of base of horn or a mushroom. What do you think?
-
So today I found this horn while hiking. The place where I found it -called Castrillo del Val- is known for the great amount of potamides fossils found all over the ground; furthermore, bison priscus lived nearby. The place is pretty close to Atapuerca, a big deposit of homo antecessor. I think it might belong to a bison priscus horn core, I’ll post some pictures and let’s see what this is!

While on vacation in Utah USA, a family member bought some fossils in a shop that were supposed to be petrified wood. Unfortunately, she has not received any further information with the documents. Is there anything more to say about these pieces? Or is this something else? They go to a primary school when it comes to wood material so any bit of information would be nice for the kids. Scale in centimeters.
