For our middle aged and above members: ”History repeats itself; I am becoming a dinosaur.” Couldn’t find this saying using Google search, so maybe I’m the first. Or...maybe I just reinvented it. I guess this makes my parents true dinosaurs. Does owning too many books, (especially paleontology ones), make you a dinosaur?

I was going through my fossils, just looking at them. I saw something I didn’t notice before. It made me laugh. I don’t know if a piece of coprolite landed on there just right, or if it actually came from the Knightia, but either way, I thought it was hilarious. I guess extinction scared it, that’s my theory. I just wanted to share this fossil. It’s funny, in my opinion.

I give you the World's Cutest Fossil Preparators! I found a lump of matrix with a sliver of clam shell exposed about two years ago in Buxton, NC. It's a chunk of the Pleistocene shelf on which the OBX are sitting. When I brought it home, all you could see of the shell was the yellow strip in the middle. It was the only fossil visible at the time. It sat on a shelf for two years, waiting in vain for me to scrape away the matrix. I finally decided to use it for mouse furniture a couple weeks ago. They decided that they really like the minerals in the matrix. They have been licking away the matrix but have been very good about not eating the shell -- or any of the other fossils that they have been exposing. I wish they could do this with dolomite!

Funny commercial for parents (no fossils at all, but hilarious!)
Monica posted a topic in Members' News & Diversions
Hi all! A little while ago my husband and I saw this commercial for Maple Leaf Foods - we found it hilarious then and we still laugh out loud whenever it comes on, so I thought some fellow TFF members might also enjoy it. I think parents will find it especially funny... Enjoy! Monica- 1 reply

Megatron Tooth ID! Redefining Everything We Once thought We Knew
Kurufossils posted a topic in Members' News & Diversions
Came across an extraordinarily important scientific find on a large well known auction website surprisingly, this tooth has been IDed by the seller as coming from 'Megatron'. I apologize for the low quality photos but they will provide you with all the evidence you need to make this id, museums and top paleontologist must be contacted and papers rewritten, I strongly believe that transformers are makos in disguise. -
I've been a member of cloudynights forum for 8 years. It's the most popular astronomy web-forum in the world. Just recently I changed my avatar over there to an Archeopteryx fossil pic. Then I came here and changed my avatar to a picture I took of the Orion Nebula. Ha!!! What is your avatar? What's it's significance? Scott Original image:

Honey, You Should Expect A Parcel Of Bones In The Mail, Ok?
Treasure Hunting Trucker posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
Has anyone told their spouse to expect bones in the mail before? Has anyone's spouse found that disturbing at first? I could hear the apprehension in my wife's voice. You think she'd expect that by now. This was regarding my purchase of a fellow's lifetime collection of ice age mammal bones from the Kansas river on ebay. I don't think my wife is as excited to receive it as I am. Anywise, I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience. Www.treasurehuntingtrucker.WordPress.com
