A few days were spent in the Green River Formation collecting fossil leaves and insects. Now comes the momentous task of identifying my finds. I have piece mealed together some information that has helped a bit. BUT by no means am I happy with my results. Does anyone know of a great guide or article which would help someone like me make proper IDs. Thanks, Mike

Long story short my grandmother use to order fossils from a website. She would keep some of the authentication certificates because I was so young at the time of receiving these. When she had passed I learned she lost almost all of the paperwork. I've been struggling to identify these with such little information to go off of. Any help is greatly appreciated. First image to last: - Small roughly 1'' tooth - Was thought to be plesiosaur tooth but it looks slightly different then the confirmed plesiosaur tooth I own - unknown -wrist or ankle of some sort, mammoth or mastodon -unknown

Aparently I'm the first person to find a petrified egg w/o shell. Found in oregon, Southish westish. I've done some research, enough to know its "not" but ... I did try polishing so I could see thru better, it has little divets around it. Very interesting piece to me. Seems to have embryo, top little flat piece like egg inside. Thank you for any info, before I cut in 2? Lol

Hello everyone, happy to have discovered this forum ! I'm french and was in Grand canyon for Holliday's, a week ago and during a hike I found this grey stone among all the red ones. It looks like a tooth by its form and the surface is cracked as old ivory. It is very different from all other stones I saw on the place. Could you help me to identify it with your experienced eyes ? Found this rock/fossil on a beach in Northumberland, England. I did not break it open. This is as found. Although dull I believe the reverse side contains Pyrite. Any help in identifying is appreciated

Anyone want to weigh in on if this is a fossil or not? The base rock (not the crystals) looks like petrified wood to me, but I don't have much experience IDing petrified wood. It is a strange formation.

Good Afternoon, This specimen was left to me by my late grandfather. I do not know where it was obtained, though he lived in Minneapolis so it may have been from a nearby state. It appears to be a real fossil (I don't know what anyone would make a fake one that small) but I suppose I really don't know for sure. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Connor

I live in San Diego and need help identifying what the heck these weird extremely heavy round rocks are. Can someone please tell me what these are? They are huge and extremely heavy with lots of shell fossils and crystals in some.

I have had these rocks around for years and I don’t even remember where they came from. Likely I found them Missouri, but I originally presumed it was amber which wouldn’t be a Missouri find. I did the salt water float test and they sank to the bottom. Could these simply be quartz? What I am most curious about is the circular relief formation seen on the top stone in the picture. The two images are of the top and bottom.

Actinoceras impression? Found it amongst landscape stones so I don’t know the origin.

What do you think? I was digging in a pile of stones that were dumped in a low drainage area behind a business. Consequently I don’t know the origin, but I presume they are from the Missouri region. There were a lot of coral and clam fossils in the pile. The rock pictured has an imprint that looks like some sort of annelid. At first I thought crinoid, but I’ve never seen a crinoid impression like this.

Hello everyone, Some days ago I was walking along a beach in the Algarve region of Portugal and while looking for shells and mollusc fossils, I found what I believe to be a fossilized shark tooth. I have never found any fossils of elasmobranchs in this place or otherwise so I have no idea what species it could be. This specimen was found in a beach with no rocky outcrops ( except sand heheh ), so I don´t really know what geologic time frame it falls into. Any help with id or with online resources for shark teeth identification is greatly appreciated.

Good Afternoon, I was hoping for help identifying two trilobites I purchased from a yard sale. The first is a cephalon (3cm wide) - I presume some species of Olenellus? It was labeled as from 7 Oaks Springs site in Nevada. Altitude 5810ft. The second is a full trilobite (2.5cm L), also labeled as from Nevada but without a location. Any thoughts? I can take higher res photos if that is helpful, this is just with my phone. thank you, -Connor

Hello, I am new to this community and fossils/bone identification in general. Hope you can help me with identifying a part of the skull I recently found (or at least I think it is a part of the skull). I found the bone recently (May 2022) close to a beach in Malmö, Sweden while cleaning up the beach with my colleagues. I would like to make a nice display stand for it, and I'd like to have something other than "Unknown Species" on a tag. I suspect what I see here are the eyeholes and the nose on a skull bone. First I thought it was a bird of some kind, or some other reptile. But looking at skull pictures online, I cannot recognize anything. Maybe a fish, since it was found close to the beach? I suspect it's impossible to find out the exact species, but at least the genus or the family would be nice. Cheers, Nikola

I was at Penn Dixie a few weeks ago and had trouble figuring out what a couple of my finds could be. My first thought for this one was a piece of a trilobite, but I’m not 100% sure on that. I don’t know where to start with this one. Any help is greatly appreciated!
