Hi there! I’ve recently rediscovered my love of fossils and hope I can learn a lot here. I grew up looking for fossils on the Isle of Wight, but after I moved away, my hobby dwindled. I still live on the south coast, and in recent years I’ve rekindled my curiosity and found my love of fossil hunting again.

Hi, I'd be grateful for a ID on this fossil, found today at Worbarrow Bay on the Isle of Purbeck, UK. I can't see anything similar online but my best guess would be coral. Would be very grateful for any deeper insight!

Hi. I'm currently on holiday in Lyme Regis, Dorset, England and I have found this vertebrae on the beech. It's maybe 1.5cm in diameter. I believe it to be ichteosaur but I was wondering if anyone could clarify? Also, it appears to be missing a portion, would this likely have occurred pre or post fossilisation?

I hope this is the place to learn some knowledge. My husband works in a quarry in Devon and after a blast has come across these four beautiful giant concretions? Which were in a pocket together. I would be interested to know what they are made of. We have washed the one which was the smallest - the only one he could carry -the colours seem to be very red with some orange. There is also another which is around 1.2meters across which we will be adding to our set. I would be interested in any information regarding our new found rocks

I've found these vertebrae on England's Jurassic Coast over a period of fourteen years (I like to think I'd have found more but I only get to visit Lyme Regis once every 2 years) I believe them to all be ichthyosaur vertebra and I was just wondering if everyone agreed. Also the largest one seems more detailed and of a different colour, being a sandy brown rather than black. I was wondering why? I can supply extra pictures of the largest.

So I’ve been to Bracklesham bay 3 times now and never found a shark tooth or a ray dental plate, this was after hours of searching through the shingle on the beach and across the sand when the tide is out. I’ve heard that conditions for teeth are best after/during scouring conditions but I don’t live close to the beach. Can I go by the the weather being stormy or rainy? Also I’ve heard the fossiliferous beds can be exposed sometimes when the tied is out, is this completely random or connected to ‘scouring conditions’? Any helpful advice relating to best times to go and how to find out when the beds are exposed is greatly appreciated. Also any tips for finding teeth or dental plates? Thanks
