Bivalve from KT Boundary phosphate deposits in central Jordan
David Cothran posted a topic in Fossil ID
Can anyone help me with ID of this bivalve from central Jordan? From commercial deposits of phosphorites that span the KT Boundary. Occurs in very dense masses of thousands of individuals. Neighboring specimens seem to have been appressed in life. My hand is the only scale I have available, but should give an idea. Thanks for any help! Please see comment below for images. -

New theory for KT mass extinction event
Jumpaline posted a topic in Partners in Paleontology - Member Contributions to Science
Anyone fancy some "light" reading for a Sunday? I have just finished this research paper and would love any, honest feedback. The theory is new although based on established research: the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs did not just hit the Earth like a nuclear bomb but was more like a bullet to the head. Had some excellent pointers from a Nobel Prize winner but what is that compared to the Fossil Forum. Earth Assassination Theory:- 1 reply
