Hello friends,
I found this odd rock while looking in petrified wood areas near east Denver. I'm still not sure of the exact formation. The texture is very smooth, almost creamy. Its coloration is like marbled beef. Close inspection shows it is densely packed with very tiny white spires that seem to have some kind of hollow structure. Grass? Coral? Minerals? The hollows look almost vascular but I might be imaging things. The width of each white streak is <1mm so I couldn't get a measuring tool in the zoomed pic. Hope these are of some interest. Thank you for any thoughts.
