    Chub?

Hey guys, I bought this at a reputable shop in Hawaii and they labeled this necklace as a meg. I see what I think are slight cusps on the upper sides of the tooth. I was wondering if I may have gotten lucky and purchased a chub? Thanks in advance!

    A Memorable Find

I have a number of fossil hunting partners and each one is my favorite. TFF member Jlar7607 or Joe is really busy with his job and can only get out on Saturdays. We have had some not so memorable Saturday hunts like last Saturday when it seemed like there were hundreds of Air-boaters on the river and almost no fossils in the river. Then there was days like today. We met early with the intention of going long on one of these last few days of the season. For those of you who have not gone hunting with Joe, he digs like a machine processing about twice as much gravel as I do. That is impressive. We were having an OK day after an hour. A horse tooth, a whale vert, a couple of slightly broken Makos, and a handful of high quality Bulls and Duskys. A couple of the Duskys had brown roots, aqua blades and crisp serrations. Before you look ay the photos and congratulate me, please understand that I was just the bystander and photographer!! JOE found this tooth. I am pleased to report that I was gracious, but also envious!!! This is the highest quality Meg I have ever seen found in the Peace River. If anyone has seen or heard of a better one, please post it!! SS The tooth is 3.87 inches by caliper. Congratulations Joe !!!!!

    Megalodon tooth segment measured

Approximately two inches! Impressive... Would have been far more impressive if it were still in one piece.

Pity we were unable to find any more pieces to this monster! This is Toby showing an approximate shape of the original tooth if it were still together.

My first 2 pieces arrived today and I could not be more pleased! The Crow Shark tooth was a free little surprise with my Megalodon.
  9. Hello everyone. I live in central Virginia and LOVE fossil hunting. My kids and I mainly look for Megalodon teeth, but get excited about anything we find. We mainly go searching up on the Potomac but we're going to start searching down in the Nottoway area. If anyone has any suggestions on where to start down there, I'd love to hear, and I'll gladly share anything I learn as well. Jake
  10. ANYONE please help. I go on vacation to the North Carolina beaches once or twice a year. my absolute favorite thing to do is hunt for shark teeth. I love them all but I loooove the big teeth. I am a megalodon tooth junkie i have found a couple teeth on the beach but am never satisfied! I desperately want to find my own bigger teeth and have been to a couple quarries but they are all so picked over.. and oceans and rivers terrify me. I could never go diving with alligators n sharks! I really am looking for something on land. I know Noone like to give their spots away! but can someone please give me some hints on where to find plentiful teeth on dry land? I have no idea where to begin! I'm only there a week so I don't have much time.. all responses will be greatly appreciated!!!!!! please and thanks

I would appreciate if someone would post photo(s) or line drawing(s) or maybe a link; illustrating the shape of meg teeth relating to their position in the jaw. Thanks.

    Largest Megalodon Teeth Group Photo

    From the album: Megalodon Collection

I finally got inspired to take a group photo of my bigger C. megalodon teeth. For reference the smallest on the outside are in the 5.7 inch range and the largest two in the middle are 6.6 inches, with the rest being sizes in between.
  23. Hi there! I live in Montgomery County and love to head over to Calvert Cliffs on the weekends, usually at low tide. I've only found one Meg - a nice one! But I definitely want more. I usually find at least 150 small teeth when I go, but I'm craving the bigger teeth. Does anyone know of any other places around there beside Brownie's Beach? I'd love to try out some new spots. Thanks and happy hunting! -CLB

4.19 inch Bone Valley Megalodon tooth

    From the album: Megalodon Collection

This is a stunning 4.19 inch C. megalodon tooth from Bone Valley Florida. This tooth is definitely worth a few extra photos. Besides being large for this location, it is also 100% natural and in amazing condition. With two distinct colors/patterns on the display and non-displays sides, this tooth is one of my new favorites. It's specimens like this that make me excited to collect!
