  1. Million Pound Mushroom

    Million Pound Mushroom?

Hi everyone, I'm a complete novice here, I purchased this strange rock as a souvenir when travelling through Mongolia and Russia if was bought from Nomads who forage the area close to lake Baikal on the Mongolia side of the border. It strangely drew me to it as it was sort of hidden under some other prettier looking rocks. The internet doesn't seem to say it's likely to be a mushroom, although as I'm sure you will agree from the photos it's easy to believe it is. I'd appreciate anyone expertise and thoughts anyone might have on Mushrooms or anything similar they have seen before? Thank you for your time and interest.

    Alioramus tooth

Hi everyone, Please could you let me know your thoughts on this tooth? The tooth isn't the best of condition but its rare and I am thinking of buying it. Looks like a bit of the tooth has a fracture fill. Location info below: Nogon Tsav Formation Bayankhongor, Mongolia Thanks!

    Raptor claw?

A guy from Facebook that I know showed me his raptor claw. He got it from a friend that bought it in Mongolia. Can anyone identifie if, this is really a claw from a raptor?
  13. Hi all, I have come across numerous theropod eggshells sold as "Oviraptor from Mongolia" through the years. Mostly, I pay them no heed. As I am aware, whole Oviraptor eggs from Mongolia are in fact Elongatoolithus sp. eggs from Guangdong or other parts of China. True Mongolian eggs are very rare. What about these eggshells though? My guess is that thousands of them come out of China, the same way as the eggs and egg nests. But then again, eggshells are more common, and is it that implausible for some of them to be Mongolian in origin? I label mine as being from China, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
  14. So it was found from Gobi desert and i don't know which dinosaur's bone is this. I have one tibia bone and one backbone, also one more bone from tail or something...? does someone have an idea?
  15. Hi all, I have here what was claimed to be an Alioramus tooth with jaw fragment from the Nemegt Formation. The entire fossil measures 2.6 inches tall, and the crown section is 1.4 inches tall. I haven't had much cause to suspect its authenticity as I knew the dealer obtained a stock of Nemegt Formation fossils, and another expert I trust examined the pictures and determined it is authentic, but was broken and re-attached. Recently however, another expert I trust claimed that this is in fact a Kem Kem crocodile based off the pitting of the jaw, the thinness of the jaw which matches a croc rather than theropod profile, and the coarse red gravel seen underneath the fossil (as I am aware, Nemegt fossils are covered in red sand too), and the so-called crown isn't even a tooth. What are your thoughts on this?

  18. Mongolia is home to many amazing and very well-preserved dinosaurs, such as Velociraptor, Protoceratops, Oviraptor, Tarbosaurus, and Pinacosaurus. However, did you know that the children in the same region have very little access to their area's rich fossil heritage? The ISMD (Institute for the Study of Mongolian Dinosaurs) is working to change that. They are planning to bring the children in the area a "mobile museum" as well as more fossil outreach, create a website for the region, and, in the near future, build a permanent museum! However, all of this can only be done with our help! Donate to the campaign page here! (Note: They have some excellent rewards for the donations! Where else can you get an Allosaurus jaw reproduction for just $250?)

    Triops From Mongolia

Hi all, I recently acquired a triops from Inner Mongolia from the Cretaceous age. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me identify its species.
  20. Not too long ago there were some questions concerning the legality of any Chinese or in this case a Mongolian dinosaur skull. I have clipped the short article from the Denver Post, March 26th, 2014 paper for your... consideration.
