This is an un-associated surface find from Brushy Basin so no context to draw on. No discernible internal structure when looking at the fractured end. Obvious symmetry and taper to a flat point. I have not found anything seed-like on the internet that is this large or shaped quite like this. So I am excited to hear back from the forum. I am new to the Fossil Forum and look forward to sharing in the bigger brain of paleontology.

Hello, I saw this for sale and tempted by it, but is it Allo? Seems pretty small to me. And, is it complete? The base seems crooked, so wondering if it may be half a tooth? Labelled as complete but repaired crack. From Morrison Formation. Thanks

Small unidentified theropod tooth from Morrison Formation, Wyoming

Hello there. I recently received a small theropod tooth from the Morrison Formation, without any ID. Part of the tip is missing/worn out. At its longest dimension, the tooth measures 1,1 cm. The serration count (Both mesial and dermal) are 6-7 serrations per mm, and about 18-19 per 3 mm. Anyone who's got a good guess, feel welcome to drop a comment here, cause I have no clue if this is a baby Allosaurus, or a small Marshosaurus, Ornitholestes, Coelurus or something completely different.- 11 replies

Hello all, I am new to the fossil forum ( obviously). A little bit about myself: I have formal training and education in vertebrate Paleontology. I double majored in Geology/ Zoology in college and continued to get a Phd in vertebrate Paleontology. I was the adjunct professor of dinosaur Biology at the local community college until the shutdown. My specialization is theropod dinosaurs, but I have experience with a variety of fossil animals. My area of least experience is probably fossil mammals, so you will likely see me posting some pics of bones on here for second opinions. When it comes to dinosaurs I've worked with basically everything. If you can think of a dinosaur, I've probably dug up something like it. I've also worked on mapping sauropod and pterosaur tracks of the Morrison fm. Since moving to Oregon ( United States) I have had difficulty finding work in my fields of study, so I decided to start trying to survive on my own. I am a bit out of practice ( 5 years of not practicing paleo), but have recently started getting back into the swing of things. I have begun research into reconstructing paleo climate of the oregon coast using bivalve shells, specifically pecten, as a biological index for measuring chemical changes in sea water. I have mainly been looking into the newportian stage of the Astoria fm ( 15-18 million year old rocks). This represents the mid- Miocene. I have collected several vertebrate fossils on the coast, most of which haven't been prepped or I'd yet, but I know for a fact that I have a couple of whale vertebrae ( one juvenile, one mature) as well as a large juvenile pinniped/ walrus, a deep sea fish vert cross section ( complete with diploe), a section of shoulder blade and rib from (?), a vertebra from something like an otter, and a bone I have yet to make any decisions on. I look forward to getting to know all of you, and share knowledge.

Hey guys, I bought this on online at an auction for reasonable price, which seemed quite cheap for an allosaurus tooth. The seller wasn’t really sure if this was an allosaurus tooth or not, it was his best guess please tell me what you think.

Hi everyone, I just obtained my first non-Moroccan theropod tooth. It's from the Morrison formation and measures 1 and 3/8ths of an inch. I assume it is from an Allosaurus, because of how common Allosaurus is in the Morrison, but the rarer Torvosaurus and Ceratosaurus are the only other possibilities. It would be interesting to hear some opinions, however the lack of visible serrations presents some problems. @Troodon Thanks in Advance!

I am aware that stegosaurus has scutes under its neck, but is this identifiable. Seller states it was associated with other scutes and the ID was done by a professional. Thanks in advance!

Found this a couple days ago on my ranch. Western Colorado - Morrison Formation. On the surface. No prep besides light brushing. I'm not that knowledgeable, but could this be a clutch of small dinosaur or other ancient reptile eggs? Lots of dinosaur activity in the area. Probably about 20 eggs total including what isn't visible in the middle. 105g total weight. They measure roughly 1/2 inch or 1.25cm each. Larger pics included in link. Not sure what this could be. Appears to be some type of fossil with cell structure. Found it walking my property in western Colorado - Morrison Formation. Allosaurus fragilis rib? Is it authentic? Broken!

Hello all this is my first post. I recently came into possession of what I believe to be a Allosaurus rib fossil. Unfortunately the specimen snapped in a few places during transit. This dose however give me the opportunity to post pictures of the broken sections. Not exactly what I was expecting to see, but then again this is my first large fossil so I don't really know what I was expecting to see. some information I was provided from the previous owner: '"last 6 inches of the distal end, is restorated. The rest of the rib was found largely intact. Found on private land in the Morrison Formation" Any information that can be provided to me would be a great help. Debbie

These are being sold as ceolurosaur teeth from the Morrison formation in Moffat county, Colorado. Can anyone ID these? And which one looks as the highest in quality? There are 4 teeth.

Hello my name is Tijn. I love Dinosaurs and am already building a decent collection. I already have most species from the Hell Creek Formation, Lance Formation and Judith River Formation. I am mainly interested in species from the Jurassic, triassic or early cretaceous. I've got a couple Dinosaur fossils and shark teeth im willing to trade.
