Hello! I found this Oleneothyris brachiopod (on left) in the Paleocene of New Jersey and noticed that it differed from my other Oleneothyris' from this site (on the left is a 'normal' shaped one that I find here). I read there was a less common brachiopod here called Oleneothyris fragilis which seems to fit the description but i couldn't find any pictures of it online so I wanted to know what everyone thought. Below is a description I found online. http://digitallibrary.amnh.org/handle/2246/2019

I have one more small Triassic Diplurus coelacanth fish collected many years ago in North Bergen, New Jersey. The fish's head is slightly lifting off the shale matrix along its top and bottom, but remains well attached at the front and back of the head -- see the photos. The lift gap along top and bottom is at most 0.5 to 0.67 mm. Pressing on the head results in a micro-movement down. With careful handling, I don't believe that the head is in any danger of fully detaching. I have little background in prep work, so I would like to ask opinions on: Should anything be done to cement the head down? And a related question: what cementing technique can be used given that the gap is under one mm. I appreciate any thoughts on this.

Found this rather odd looking object in an upper tributary of Big Brook today. I have no idea if this is a fossil or not and if so what kind. Never found anything like this before. Big Brook is in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Any ID help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

I recently found this tiny fossil around the Big Brook area of the Monmouth County NJ Cretaceous. I really have no idea what it is. I believe it to be fossilized and under a loop it appears to show what looks like bone structure but other that, I'm stumped. Any idea what it is? Thanks! -Frank

Hi, I am 13 years old and live in Hamilton NJ. I have been hunting and collecting fossils for more than a year. I have been at Big Brook several times and we found a lot of belemnites. I have many fossils that I have no idea what they are, so I will be happy if you can identify them. I think that you will teach me a lot about ancient life.

Hello everyone! This bone was found in Monmouth County (Big Brook area) New Jersey. We found this on the way home from a trip and after debate over modern or not, I decided to bring it home and clean it up. A lot of modern bones here look older than are and I am not very versed in Pleistocene material so I figured I would post it here and see what everyone thinks! Thanks! @non-remanié @Trevor @bucky @shajzer64

Recently I purchased a collection of shark teeth from Big Brook, NJ. This specimen came with it. I think it is a reptile humerus, however, it doesn't look like turtle/crocodile bones. I have no idea who it may come from - mammal/lizard/dinosaur? Sorry for the image quality.

Greetings! I recently found this partial (what I believe to be) Mosasaur tooth and the texture of the enamel isn't typical of the Mosasaur I have found. I was wondering if this is consistent with any particular species of Mosasaur or if it's just a different type of preservation than I am used to. It was found in the Monmouth County NJ Cretaceous and the bottom part of the tooth is broken. Thanks in advance for your help! -Frank .6 inch Two cutting edges
