    Shell

I found a shell that is all grey rock. I would like to know what animal it is. I found it with a bunch of crinoid fossils. I think it's a shell.

    Worm like fossils, crinoids?

I found what look like worm fossils among a bunch of crinoid fossils and a few shells. Could you explain what these are? They seem much larger than the crinoid fossils. Seems like one end of the worm and the other end. I found smaller ones of one end, like knob ends.

    Can't Identify... looks alien! ha

Morning! I was fossil hunting along Colvert Cliff, NC this week and saw a weird formation in the cliff wall line. I found a plate with unusual organisms on it. They are fossilized and really bizarre. I found it close in proximity to a previous post on a plate found with pasterns on it. These items were found in the wall of the cliff that is eroding away and I'm sure became visible after that location had a violent storm pass through. Any thoughts or identification would be appreciated! Gray coloration on the specimen is clay... which I am removing as best as I can. The coloration around it is the actual fossil.

ID help with large fossil vertebra?

Found diving 30-50’ depth, 1-3 miles offshore off SW Florida. Approx 4.5x5”. We don’t have a clue. Several prehistoric shark teeth were found same spot (prehistoric tiger, can’t remember what else). Any ideas? Thanks!!!

    What is this?

I found this walking on an ocean beach in Northern Washington State near the Strait and not sure what it is. It is about 3 in long and 2 in diameter. It is hollow inside. Thanks in advance for any help.

Any ideas on what this might be?

This comes from 600+ft of water off the coast of maine. It seems to be petrified wood or coral. Any ideas?

    Fossilized or no?

I know that the first crab claw shown is fossilized the center has become stone and the edges where it was broken grey and black, but the second set of pictures I will post is of a claw that leaves me not so sure! It is hard as rock no doubt but the center is hollow and the edges more white which leads me to doubt. Opinions are welcome!

    what could this be?

As soon as I saw this I thought fossil poo but that could just be the way it's worn, any clues?

Coral fossil or just a skeleton?

Does anyone jnow if this is a coral fossil or just a coral skeleton?
  13. Can anyone help me identify these rocks and whether or not they are fossil imprints? They look like trilobite shapes, but not sure if this is just a natural ripple effect on the rock. Found at Jacalitos Creek in Coalinga, CA. I mostly otherwise find sand dollars and shells in the creek bed.

    Agatized Barnacle

    From the album: ocean stuff

Here was a nice surprise. I picked up this fossil cluster of barnacles and noticed a nice layer of agate underneath! When I processed the photo I took of it I saw that the light from my flash dispersed giving this rainbow effect. It's very small but now when I hold to the light I can see the little rainbows!

    Bone fossil??

Hello there! I no little information about fossils but I was really hoping someone could help me out with identifying this fossil? Frankly I’m not quite sure it is a fossil. I’m really curious though and I gladly thank anyone for their time. This small ‘bone’ was found on the shores of North Carolina. It’s a dark brownish color and feels lighter than it looks. (Almost like wood) Thank you guys!

    vert from?

Found these in the big quarry area. So figure Pleistocene to maybe Pliocene. Oh..for those who are not familiar..North West Simi Valley. They have been doing mining so things popping up again. Because of it being a ocean, creek and land environment could be anything. The last one was thought to maybe be elephant. As per Bobby. have no idea on last pic. They are fossils.

    Weird seashell?

Hey all! I know this is probably not a fossil ID but hoping someone can help. I found this seashell in a box of miscellaneous down in my basement. I don’t remember where it came from but it just looks odd to me. Looks as if it’s partially fossilized...can’t explain it. Any my ideas are greatly appreciated!

    My agatized "knuckle bone" fossil

Hi everyone, I was given this fossil from a friend. It came out if a collection that was given to him by a friend. I'm assuming it is a form of sea life as there were other shell fossils with it. If you hold it up to a flashlight the light passes through it and illuminates it. My friend does not know anything about it. Can u please help me identify it? Thank you!

  21. Found at the beach, underwater. Tried as best I could to wash the dirt off but pieces of crystal keep falling off (you can see three small peices on the side), they seem fragile. The rock is about the size of my hand.
  22. Found this in the water on the beach in Omiš, Croatia. There are three prominant dark curved lines across one of the surfaces. Dont know if its just a rock or if its something else?
