Fossil Friday once again! This is the last of the South Dakota exploration trip, hunting the Pierre shale for cephalopods and hopefully a mosasaur. Although the first half of the Pierre shale exploration went pretty slow, it wasnt without a few nice finds. The second part, we were extremely fortunate in that we got to meet Neal Larson and hear a short talk about the local Pierre shale formation, and then he took us out to his personal hunting site.

Happy Christmas eve, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a prosperous new year! It may be Christmas eve, but its also Friday, which means its a Fossil Friday. I missed las week due to being sick. Today's video offering is from the first day of a long, multi-day fossil exploration trip in South Dakota.

STILL don't have our first T.Rex tooth yet
hadrosauridae posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
I thought this year that my son had found our first T.Rex tooth. Its both larger and thicker than any of the Nanno teeth we have dug. I was 99% sure we had our rex until I just used my (crappy) phone camera to finally get a serration count. 2.8/mm. Thats clearly in the Nanno count. Maybe next year will be our year.- 7 replies
