Hey all! I haven’t posted in a long time but I was too excited about this. I absolutely love petrified wood. I love the colours, the rings, the detail! My wonderful husband bought me this AMAZING piece of petrified wood from a local rock shop. I took it home, gave it a bath and a good scrub. It’s green! Now I've heard about the chromium petrified wood from Arizona but I have NO idea where this one came from. It’s super heavy at 25.7lbs!! I absolutely adore this piece and even if it isn’t chromium wood, it’s definitely stunning!

I apologize for not providing better photos and size reference (yellow thing beside it is a kayak paddle if that helps) it was much to large and heavy for us to carry out along with the full 5 gallon bucket haha. The last two photos were found in the same place. Again sorry for not having size reference. I promise I'll do better in the future. Any ideas what these could be? Crossing my fingers for petrified bones :-)

Hello to all. Although I exhibited this sample in the next topic, I think that it is worthy of a separate publication. For all the time of my finds, I came across such a sample for the first time. It is a long branch (about 80 cm) with a large knot in the middle. I had to tinker, extracting it from the red clay. It originates from the Araukarite Formation of the Gzhel Stage of the Upper Pennsylvania Carboniferous period (303.4 Ma). Found in the Donetsk region of Ukraine.

Hello to all. This is my collection of flora from the Carboniferous period. This topic will be filled gradually - there is a lot of material. All material originates from the Araukarite Formation of the Gzhel Stage of the Upper Pennsylvania Carboniferous period (303.4 Ma). Unless otherwise specified, it means that the default sample is from this formation. The type of substitution is silicification (sometimes with ferruginization), sometimes with quartz crystals on the surface of the samples. Enjoy watching Part 1. Sample 1. I found this piece at Douglas Point on the Potomac a while back. I set it aside for a snowy day not sure if it was bone or something else. Definitely fossilized, but a little weird for bone. Taking a closer look today at the recently broken end, I think I see growth rings. And maybe thin bark on the outside? Is this petrified wood? If so, it would be a first for me from there.

Greetings from Central Florida, friends. I found this piece today and I assumed it was bone because I find so many smaller, similar looking pieces of bone at this spot. On closer examination, one side seems to be cut pretty neatly. Can anyone positively identify this as bone or wood? If wood, is it palm? Thanks for reading!

This was found in a cave in Vance. It has a mineral growth on it that glows a neon yellow color under a uv light. The camera makes it appear green but here are some photos. Tell me what y'all think.

I found this today near a creek bed and it has a bone appearance with sockets. Can anybody identify this?

Hello! I inherited this piece with the idea that it could possibly be a space rock. I checked the magnetism and it has no magnetic properties whatsoever. After closer examination with an open mind and a little imagination, I see a petrified baby dinosaur laid on its side with its neck possibly broken at the base of the skull. Below what looks like the neck is a split section that looks like a chest cavity with a arm/leg on either side. . The strangest part is that there seems to be the head of another species resting on the side of the laid down fossil. I see the right eye socket at the top of the head and the raised ridges on top of the skull back to the decapitation point. (It almost looks like it could be a tiny horse laid on its side, but it looks like little fingers on the end of what looks like the front leg)

I found this here in Las Vegas, it looks to be a turtle head. I'm using a Chromebook for the pictures and unfortunately I don't have any other options to take pictures right now but there is faint yellow line surrounding the gums going around the eye. the same yellowish color appears around a kidney shape near the back of the head and seems to be in the same area the otic chamber is on turtles. on one side of the head it appears to have teeth marks which I have found on other "turtle" pieces in this same area. I've also found what appear to be turtle or reptilian eggs. on one I sanded the "egg shell " off and you can see what appears to be a baby turtle inside and it looks like it was smashed probably right before it hatched . I will try to post these also sometime today. I'm not a paleontologist Anthropologist or geologist but I really believe with DNA testing there's something here if you can't already see it in the pictures.

Found this on 11/11/21 hiking near the shore of Lake Camanche in Amador County, CA. Camanche is a reservoir fed by the Mokelumne River and is pretty low this year, exposing some good rock hunting spots. Last year a ranger with EBMUD discovered fossils of mastodon, camel, horse and more in this watershed. We found lots of petrified wood and this one item that to me looks like a tibia or fibula because of the ridges that slowly spiral around it. All of the petrified wood was much lighter on the outside I believe from calcite. This item didn't have any of that on the outside, was much darker and splintery looking, like a chicken bone. Inside there does seem to be some calcite and there was some sandstone that I sprayed out before the picture. It is 6" long and 2" wide and is hard as a rock and heavy, just like petrified wood. The center is hollow on one end but solid on the other. I would think a branch or root would be hollow more consistently from end to end. And the hollowness is quite wide, if this was a branch it would be very weak. It was near the shore of the lake with a bunch of other random rocks. Further away from the shore are lots of sedimentary rock cliffs that I believe are caliche. I am very new to all of this so I may not be observing things correctly, most of what I just said I've learned just in the last couple days researching online. Would be great to know if it's a bone or not, and even possibly from what animal! Lake Camanche satellite view and spot where item was found attached as well.

Help with finding out the value how old it is the blue stuff on the petrified Wood is spray paint it was given to me like that.

I found this in in. Grove heights , MN. Where a huge amount of land was dug up and now is a construction site. I found it right after the ground was initially turned up . I believe it may of been old farm land or just unused land prior to the dig.

found this in the same creek as my giant petrified burl. Finding things in this creek that don't just crumble is rare. The land I live on is very strange with deep deep slopes and high drop offs in the woods. I recently learned a glacier carved out the land here so thats interesting and explains alot. Can anyone give me their opinions on this peice? It sounds like glass if that helps. Thanks!
