I'm coming to the experts once again! This is a very strange ptychotrygon tooth. It appears to be P. triangularis, but it is so elliptical. The low crown is similar to some of Bourdon's P. eutawensis, but according to Woodward's original description, there is a bit of ornamentation on the labial apron, which this doesn't have. Could this simply be a pathological tooth? Thanks!

Sawfish oral teeth, much smaller than ones I usually find in the Eagle Ford. These are maybe 2 mm in width.-

Nice array of colors. The biggest one here is the largest I've found to date at about 5 mm in its longest dimension.-

Tiny sawfish oral teeth can be found in POC by simply taking some gravel home to look through under a magnifying glass, or a microscope if you've got one.-

Tiny oral teeth from extinct sawfish. I haven't seen many posts about POC microfossils, so I decided to see what's there. I filled a sandwich baggie with gravel last time I was there and found these and a ton of other neat stuff. Scale bar ~ 1 mm.- 2 comments

I'm still breaking down shale chunks that I brought home from the Martin Marietta quarry in Midlothian, TX. Site covers the Atco contact between the Eagle Ford shale & the Austin Chalk formations. Lots of micro stuff in there. Here are my latest tiny finds. Scale in all photos is in millimeters. Pycnodont fish tooth. Thanks to Mike Everhart for the ID! Ray Tooth, Family Sclerorhynchidae From Post Oak Creek, Texas
DinoMike posted a topic in Micro-paleontology
Scale in photo is in mm. I'm thinking this may be a Ptychotrygon triangularis tooth. MIGHT be Ptychotrygon hooveri, but it looks to me to be a closer match to the triangularis. One of my latest finds while sifting through my load of gravel from Post Oak Creek.- 3 replies
