I was wondering if I could get some recommendations on how to cut open large fossil boulders? Its not as though I’ll be taking every fossil in the boulder, and I’ll be sure to leave material for other fossil hunters. The more outrageous the suggestion, the better. By the way, car battery acid is NOT an option in this case.

So I’m on the verge of moving to a new house where I’ll be fortunate enough to have my own space for a fossil prep lab (and display room, but that’s for another discussion). This space is a completely hollowed out husk, doesn’t even have lighting installed at the moment. To those of you with fossil prep labs of your own, knowing what you know now, if you were making a lab from the ground up, what things would you suggest? Not just big stuff, but little things. What kind of overhead lighting? Floor padding you found useful? At the moment I have an air compressor and a wall mounted dust collecto

Underrated/Lesser Known Fossil Documentaries Recommendations?
Kurufossils posted a topic in Questions & Answers
Not sure if there is already a post answering this question here, but I'm on the lookout for any recommendations for some of the more underrated and lesser known fossil documentaries that can be found out there besides the Walking With Dinosauresque well known types. Maybe any posts on here can also help others explore some more obscure and interesting documentary titles to watch. -
Any Recommendations of Good Vertebrate Focused Fossil Books With Images
Kurufossils posted a topic in Fossil Literature
Hello, I have been recently shopping around for fossil books that are more image heavy to look around at on my downtime, the few I have so far seem to be generally focused on all fossils and contain hardly any fossil vertebrates from the mesozoic or tertiary periods. Thus I am on the look out for any books that would be good fits, there was one I cannot remember the name for the life of me that I think is a large recent book that I've seen in B&N that goes over all time periods in full color with fossil photos/creature images, if anyone knows maybe which one that could be I was definitely- 4 replies

I've got an upcoming trip to Montana starting in Great Falls but spending most of our time in Flathead Valley. I'm thinking of going through Bynum to stop at Two Medicine Dinosaur Center, but was wondering if anyone had recommendations for other places to hit (sites, museums, shops, etc). Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'll be moving from a townhouse into a detached house in a few weeks, and now I'm getting really excited because I'll finally have some space to display my fossils - hooray! So I was hoping that some of you would have some suggestions as to what type of cabinet I should look into acquiring, including what materials it should and shouldn't be made of (I've heard that some woods can damage fossils - is this true?) I'll likely be setting up the cabinet(s) in the basement, although I may end up displaying some of my favourite fossils in the living room - we'll see...

Hey, first post on this site. I've been volunteering at the Edelman Fossil Park (formerly Inversand) for a few years and am wondering if there are any other sites in the southern part of New Jersey that people know about. I have been to Big Brook, Ramanessin and Shark River on trips with my geology class, but they are farther than I would prefer to go for an average trip, and not worth the drive on a bad day. Particularly looking for sites in the Navesink or other Cretaceous formations. Thanks.

My family and I are looking to head out west for a guided fossil trip and we are a long ways from finalizing a plan and as such are open to anything. Pretty much just want to find dinosaur fossils as opposed to our usual haunt in the Chesapeake Bay. Again we are unexperienced as far as dinosaur fossils go and would prefer a guide, and also prefer to be able to keep our finds. Please include pictures of your finds from recommended areas!
