Hi all, we found these at the beach and I cant find anything comparable in my book. Hoping someone with more experience could have a look. I think the little one could possibly be an incisor and i havent a clue about the larger one. I guess if anything its a decent looking rock. The scale bar is 1cm squared. Looking forward to any feedback

This was found inland in Sarasota county. It's clearly a vertebra. Most people seem to say that it's from a whale? Can't it be any large fish or animal? Any insight would be appreciated.

Hey gang, Going thru chucking things out of the garage piles and noticed this good sized, highly weathered chunk of bone which has some parallel grooves/marks that I'm interpreting as possible shark bites. Want to confirm that assumption and ask if that is the case, could the upper 3 somewhat parallel lines and the 2 lower lines be single bites showing 3 teeth and 2 teeth respectively? The one mark on the upper left seems to be slightly curved so would that be consistent with a different angle/different shaped tooth position? Just wondering what you all think? Regards, Chris

Well so much for getting distracted again...Uggh! I need to pay attention..Anyways, I just realized I created an earlier thread for a gastropod that I was labeling as a bivalve.oops..I also do need help with actual bivalve IDs....both are from APAC spoils Sarasota County. Possibly Beds 10 or 11 lower Tamiami formation. Thinking the first one is a Chama. Matrix removal has been a bear on these.. And the 2nd I was thinking it might be Marvacrassatella but thats just a guess. I'm going to consolidate the exterior hopefully this week and then separate the valves to get a look at the scar/hinge area if they can be separated. Thanks for any help/confirmation. Regards, Chris

Hello, I managed to find a few different pieces of tusk and I need help with ID or maybe a link to any good resource for fossil ivory identification. These were all found in Bradenton, FL at one individual site. Not all were found together. I will lable them when I post the pictures. Thank you very much. The first set below I found all together. They are pretty straight and have what appears to be enamel on the outside. Maybe Gomp?

Hello gang, Looking for some help on what you might think these little guys are...they've been in the garage for years and recently been freed! Spoil finds from Sarasota County, Florida. APAC spoils.. Plio-Pleistocene. I had cut this Strombus in half sometime ago to look at its internal chambering and recently decided to remove the contents. To my surprise there were all kinds of things in there and I've only photographed a small number of them as they are just too small. I am very curious about what the 4 guys are just to the right of the Strombus. I've not seen something like them before. The last 2 photos on the right show a more detailed look of just one of them. The last whorl form/ornamentation that differs from the uppers is throwing me..I thought maybe they were an immature shell maybe something like Scaphella and then thought maybe it could it be a Sincola? I've got some other shells I'll be digging into as well as I'm still looking for some Ecphoras and echinoid parts and other oddities. I've got this other Strombus below that shows at least 4 other gastropod species within that shows more good promise. , I have a Panope, a Spondylus and a maybe a Marvacrassatella? that I want to open also that I've had in the garage patiently waiting there for me to get around to. To get things really moving I need to finish mixing up some butvar/acetone to add to the shells exterior as some of them are pretty flaky..my swirling project to get that stuff to dissolve is trying my patience again. Thanks for the help/looking. Regards, Chris Thanks! Regards, Chris
