Argentinian Sauropod fell during transport and broke road (fossil was undamaged)
JBkansas posted a topic in Fossil News
Thought others might enjoy this. Always frustrating when you drop a fossil but you usually don't worry about them breaking the ground underneath you. https://www.livescience.com/animals/dinosaurs/humongous-100-foot-long-dinosaur-from-argentina-is-so-big-its-fossils-broke-the-road-during-transport -
Hi, I got this piece of sauropod femur in February of this year as well as one more large piece, both associated and from the Morrison formation. Is there any way to differentiate fragmentary bones of sauropods from the Morrison or a way to get an identification on this individual?

Hello, I recently Bought these two sauropod teeth from the middle Jurassic of Niger. The teeth were labeled as Spinophorosaurus but they could still be Jobaria. Thanks for any help.

Hi, these are two pieces of a femur of a Camarasaur. It was found in the bone cabin quarry in Wyoming. The first piece is 16 × 9 × 7 and the second piece is 13 × 5 × 7, measured in centimeters. The femur was found in September 2020. I just wanted a second opinion on this one as I've made poor judgement in the past.

Hi there everyone, I just wanted to get some opinions on something. This is supposedly a sauropod transverse process. Can anyone confirm or reject that claim, or just give me your thoughts? It just says “a Jurassic site in Wyoming”, so that could narrow down the potential family/species. I’m sure you can tell it’s apparently the top and bottom of the same bone, just broken and missing a bit in between. Thanks for any and all help!

hey , I purchased this leg bone in Tucson. The dealer told me that is a sauropod dinosaur leg bone from the Cretaceous strata of Madagascar. The key point is that the leg bone is attached with skin. I found that these black "skin" has wrinkles similar to real skin. Is this black "skin" real dinosaur skin? I searched some materials. Professor Kristi Curry Rogers found that Rapetosaurus had skin ossification. I would like to hear more comments, thank you!

Everything look alright with this Sauropod claw?

Hi, I think this does look all natural with no obvious red flags, but I wanted to make sure with some opinions here. It comes from Ait Hani, Morocco (Jurassic in age). Thank you! -
Is this a real claw? or is it carved?
msantix posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi, This is supposedly a Sauropod claw from Talsint, Morocco measuring 14cm. It is in rough state so I am not confident if it is a real claw or if it just carved bone made to look like a claw. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!! -
Found in wise county in the puluxy formation..i believe this would classify as a replacement fossil ..maybe trace but its pretty apparent the skull structure is identical.

Hi, This is a big bone from Ait Hani in Morocco (according to the seller), that is about 44cm in length. I don't know if it is hollow but I think this could be a limb bone from a Theropod or Sauropod. Want to ask as someone here might know better. It could be from something else but to me either a Theropod or Sauropod seems to be likely. Thanks!

Hi, This is a fossil for sale, seller lists it as a Sauropod caudal vertebra from Ait Hani in Morocco. I am not familiar with the area or if there are any dinosaurs described from the region, but I think it is Jurassic in age. This is quite large at 30 x 20cm so I think the size would lean towards being from a Sauropod, but maybe someone is familiar with fossils from the area and can give me a better idea of what this most likely is. Thanks!

Partial Sauropod tooth with root
msantix posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi, This is a Sauropod tooth with the root still attached. The tooth crown is damaged missing some preservation but it is the root that I want to ask about. Does the root seem natural or are there red flags that I should be aware of? the tooth comes from the Tiouraren Formation in Niger and is just under 5cm. Thanks. -
Kem Kem dinosaur bone
BirdsAreDinosaurs posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi all. This specimen is advertised online as a dinosaur metacarpal from Taouz. I don't know much about Maroccan dinosaur bones, but I wouldn't be surprised if this bone a complete fake, composited or heavily restored (some areas appear very smooth) item. Pictures are pretty bad, but it is all I have got. What do you think? If it is real, would it be possible to id it to some level? Thanks! -
Hi everyone? I know that this is sauropod from the kem kem, but I was wondering if it could be narrowed down anymore. I've looked at a guide for Kem Kem dinos on the forum and I'm leaning Titanosaur because of the oval cross section but I would really like a second opinion because of the feeding wear. length is 40 mm width is 9 mm thickness is 6 mm Any insight is greatly appreciated as always!

Hello! I bought this 1'' Diploducus tooth a couple weeks ago, But I've seen other people who have teeth that look the same as mine and theirs is labeled as "Diplodocidae" teeth, mine is labled as Diploducus sp. So I was wondering if it's just a Diplodicidae tooth or still a Diploducus sp.

Hi everyone! I have my eye on a really nice tooth from the Jurassic of Niger but before I get it I figured I'd ask for an outside opinion on it's ID. The seller says it's a Sauropod from the Irhazer formation of Niger and measures 2 inches long and .9 inches wide. Is he correct? Can it be narrowed down any further than that? Any insight would be greatly appreciated as always!

Wondering if this is a Sauropod partial scapula from the Kem Kem. It is 28cm long and by the looks of it, I do believe it is from a scapula but not sure if it is indeed from a Sauropod or a crocodyliform. Thanks.

Hi all. This tooth is advertised as an Rebbachisaurus tooth from Kem Kem (these are the only pictures provided). I have tried to find comparable teeth in earlier topics on this forum, but I was not really able to find a good match. What do you think? Is it a Sauropod tooth? Could it be Rebbachisaurus or probably something else? Or are more pictures or details needed? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I have my eye on a nice size sauropod tooth from the Morrison but before going for it was hoping to get some insight from an outside source as I have zero experience with the Morrison. The seller claims the tooth is 2 inches and was found in Moffat County, Colorado. He can't tell if it's Diplodocus or Apatosaurus either so any potential insight or tips on that would be greatly appreciated as well for this and future reference.

Sauropod teeth Kem Kem Beds, Morocco

Are these Sauropod teeth real? They are from the Kem Kem Beds, Morocco If so are they restored? Repaired? -
Hi everyone . I recently acquired this sauropod tooth from France came from an old Ex-museum collection and was found in "Charente region , France" labeled from previous owner as Bothriospondylus cf.madagascarensis But after i did some research the only paper i can found was paper in 2007 "Dinosaur teeth from the Cenomanian of Charentes, Western France: evidence for a mixed Laurasian-Gondwanan assemblage" from an Abstract of this paper there were six dinosaur taxa described from this location : Carcharodontosauridae indet., Dromaeosauridae indet., Troodontidae indet., Brachiosauridae indet., Iguanodontoidea indet., and Nodosauridae indet. So... my question is what should i label this sauropod tooth ??? note : this tooth is 1.75 " in length include the root. thanks in advance Guns
