Just wanted to intoduce myself. Been hunting fossils for the past 4 years and really love it. I also collect shells and the two have a LOT in common! Can't wait to get involved with the Fossil Forum. Hope to make some friends here!

Found the roundish one in a sand stone river behind the Toledo bend dam in North la. The other was found atop a hill on my deer lease. Just wanting to know what species they derived from. I was told the round one might be from Ptychodus or a very deceptive iron concretion.

Fossil hunting trip to Kruibeke (Miocene of Belgium)
ziggycardon posted a topic in Fossil Hunting Trips
Hi everyone, A few months back I went on a fossil hunt with the BVP to a clay quarry with some miocene sands in Kruibeke (Antwerp, Belgium) in search for shark teeth. Some great finds were done that day by other members, like a big Megalodon tooth, some large Hastalis & Galeocerdo teeth, a couple of Somniosus microcephalus teeth, an Edaphodon antwerpiensis palate and a Neolithic tool to name a few of the best... Unfortunately we weren't that lucky as we found only a few smaller teeth, but I was happy with the finds nonetheless First up some on situ photo's which were shared on the fb page of the club (luckily cause I didn't take any) First up my personal best find of the day: A small pleistocene rodent incisor Some bivalves (Venus casina casina?) A ray dermal denticle Some ray teeth (Aetobatus sp.?) The only two larger shark teeth we found, both C. hastalis I believe- 9 replies

Hi guys! So I'm planning to go back to one of the Calvert County beaches to try my luck again- I haven't had any success with finding teeth bigger than about a quarter inch and I'm hoping to find something a little bigger next time. My current technique is to dig up sand from the water and sift through it super carefully- should I switch it up and try something different to find big teeth? If so, does anyone have any recommendations for how to find them? And, final question, which beaches are good for finding larger specimens? I know Purse and Matoaka are good for quantity but I don't know which are best for finding big fossils. I'm still very new to tooth hunting so any help would be appreciated!

Went out to Windmill Site in the Rio Puerco Valley today(11/27). It was very cold but very worth it. Found some ammonite pieces, a few oyster shells, and a lot of teeth. We are unsure who the teeth belonged to. Can anyone help us identify these finds? Thank you in advance. Beautiful day in New Mexico.
