As a newbie first of all Hello everybody Today I was hiking and found an interesting rock along side the old mine road. Knowing that this type of rock may contain crystals I had it split open. It was quite a big rock, but the crystals were so tiny I could hardly see them...so anyway I was about to dispose of it when I noticed something unusual. To me it looks like a piece of a small perforated skin...but to be honest I have no clue what it might be... Any thoughts?

I've got no idea what this might be. Found in Western Colorado. Parts of it look like skin(?) and other parts look like tooth(?). I doubt that's what they are, but that's what they sort of visually look like. It isn't heavy like a fossil and doesn't sound like one when you tap it on something. It weighs maybe what you expect a hard piece of plastic would weigh. The white thing in pictures 1,2, and 3 reminds me like a tooth being tapped on in how it feels (I tapped it against my own tooth as well). In picture 4, part of it broke off. It's almost like ivory(?). The only preparation I've done to it is rinsing it under water and using a soft bristle brush. Anyhow, dying to know what you guys/gals think. Thank you

This specimen was said to be a dinosaur skin fossil. There is no information on the locality. What do you think?

Ok, last one I promise. I have found a few pieces of these fossil bone fragments with an odd type of material attached to them. Rather odd texture, sort of bumpy. My first thought was some type of skin or hoof. I am puzzled. Any ideas? Found in Post oak creek, Grayson Co. Texas Lower Austin, upper Eagle Ford Gulf series.

This specimen was said to be the skin plate/shield of a dinosaur. Locality is not known. Any idea what it is and if it is genuine fossil?

This is a closeup image of the extensive soft tissue preserved in this specimen: skin. The skin of this animal can visually be seen as bumpy, with tiny pits. The pits are infact a highly advanced system of sensory pores. The pores could detect the slightest amount of disturbance in the water aiding the fish in hunting. This combined with the sensors on the rostrum made for a remarkable radar system designed to help the fish hunt for the smallest of invertebrates. The flamboyant pectoral fins are visible here aswell. Pretty cool. -
Good day of collecting after the heavy rains on the east coast. Found these gems. See what you think. I would swear the one is a knee articulation and the other is skin. Probably just bark and a stick. What say you?

My family and I went fossil hunting in Gallatin County, MT a few weeks ago and came across these two fossils. They had come loose from a known Cretaceous shale area which regularly produces flora fossils of various quality. After a lot of comparisons online, we keep coming back to thinking this may be dino skin, however, this is not the area for common skin finds. (as far as I know!) Any insight or ideas is appreciated!! Thank you in advance for taking the time for a look.

More possible hadrosaur skin

Hey guys was wondering if this is indeed a real Edmontosaurus/Hadrosaur skin impression. Seller says it was taken off of a 98% complete Edmonto excavated from the Hell Creek formation in South Dakota. Seller says it is 1.26 inches long. Please advise!

Hi there, I found the attached pictured fossil on Kimmeridge beach (Dorset, England) yesterday and would love to know what it is. I jokingly said it was dinosaur skin, although my dad retorted with "it's just a group of shells"... but either seems viable, or are we both wrong? I'm happy to provide further info if required.

Found this in my bucket along with my other teeth and bits and pieces. Appears to be skin (fish?) Can anyone tell me more? Flat with shiny black enamel diamond pattern.

My son found this in a load of river rock from the Arkansas River in the Fort Smith area of Arkansas. Any help with ID would be greatly appreciated.

This amber came in a lot from Latvia. I noticed two pieces of something, fairly large in a 1.5cm x 0.5 cm piece of amber. My pics are a bit out of focus but you can see a pigment pattern of something like skin, scale or perhaps it is a leaf with a brown/pink and black pattern on it. I think it is the skin or scale of some type of creature. What do you think? Can anyone help? Jimmy

I am new to this so excuse my lack of terminology. I am looking for help identifying what this is. I picked it up next to a excavation sight that I have pulled hundreds of bones from. I have also found many primitive stone tools in the same location. I found what appeared to be a primitive tool. Upon closer examination I have discovered the top half covered in a leather like impression. I am not certain that this is a tool, or a bone but I am under the assumption that this is a impression of skin on this object. Any information will be helpful. I will be posting pictures of the amazing bones I have collected in hopes of identifying what dinosaur I have. This was collected in the north Saskatchewan river, just off of the shore.

Hello, I found this little fossil while walking along the Missouri River near St. Louis, MO. The fossil is two sided and the pattern is the same on both sides. The fossil is thin so I wasn't thinking a turtle shell. The last two pictures are a picture of the top and bottom. Could it be a skin fossil?

Puzzle in poop - Cartilage, denticles or tooth plate in coprolite?

I have been finding a lot of inclusions in a batch of coprolites from the Smoky Hill Chalk that assumed were bits of cartilage. One of the newer specimens from that batch had a piece of the material in question on the surface; enabling me to view it from the side. They look like little teeth, so now I don't know what I have. I have one other specimen that has a couple of the little tooth-like structures intact (one that I posted a while back that has possible Ptychodus tooth fragments). Is this skin with denticles, cartilage, a skull part or some sort of tooth plate? As always, any help is greatly appreciated.
