Hello everyone, this is not a fossil but since there is so much knowledge in this forum I thought I'd ask here first. Please delete or move if not appropriate for the Fossil ID section. This is a modern skull. The size puzzles me as well as the dental not quite a house cat. Bob cat? Other ideas? It is tiny!! Scale in inches. Found in North Texas, near to a Coyote remains. Lot of wildlife, including bob cats, raccoons. Any way to tell what this is exactly? Thanks in advance!

My parents found this small fossil in 1970s when t hey were in France. It looks like a dinosaur skull but i'm not sure what it is.

We took advantage of the warmer weather yesterday and went out searching for fossils at one of favorite places. We found this fossil and would like some help IDing it. Any help is appreciated.

Here is the find we made in SC. I think It is a fragment of a baby alligator or croc. Found it on the beach in the surf. Any thoughts? And how rare are these little guys?

Hello Would anyone have a suggestion what this could be? It's a cross section from a split rock. Isle of Wight, UK. Conglomerate between Chilton Chine and Brook Bay. Definitely bone. Very thin bone in most places. 6.5 cm long, 6 cm wide. It has been suggested that it is skull material. It will be a tricky prep with my limited experience, but if anyone could suggest what i could be, it could help with knowing where to start. Thanks in advance Henry

Hello everyone. I am coming to you with a request for help with an item I want to sell on eBay. We picked it up at an estate sale and know nothing at all about its origin. I'm not into fossils, beyond picking up crinoid segments here on our property. So forgive my ignorance. I believe this is a modern skull which someone embedded into some sort of cement-like substance in order to create a "fossil." I'm hoping that's not the case, naturally, but even if so we plan to sell it as a novelty, clearly identified as a fake. It's 4.5" long from the front to the back. I appreciate any and all help with this. Thanks!

My family and I headed out to shark tooth beach on jekyll island tonight and I found this. I have no idea what it is but I feel like it's staring at me... or is a nose... or something. Anyway my 5 year old won't stop asking about it and I can't find anything like it online. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's about the size of a quarter. Thank you!

I'm looking for some help from any expert of the White River Badlands to help with the ID of these two partial fossils skulls I'm working on prepping. I purchased both of these at auction from old collections so sadly I don't know the locations they were collected, but I'm confident that they're White River specimens from the Oligocene. I'm pretty sure that both of these are examples of early rhinos like Subhyracodon and Hyracodon but I'd love some help with ID if possible. The first skull (first 3 photos with the darker teeth) is the largest at roughly 25cm across (although this is partial skull only) and has beautifully preserved teeth (albeit a very fragmented skull). The second skull has lost a few teeth (second 3 photos with more orange colored teeth) but the skull is better preserved - roughly 22cm across - this one as a much shorter snout. Both skulls have a reverse side hidden by matrix which I'm yet to remove. I'm hoping that the preservation is better on the other side. Looking at these closely, I believe these are two different species as the dentition looks different. I'd welcome anyone's thoughts.

I have had this fossil from the Ozan formation (upper cretaceous) found in Mesquite, Texas for a while. It has always just been an unidentified bone piece to me, but a fossil buddy said that I should show it around. He felt that it had some features similar to a skull piece. Note the symmetrical holes/indentions noted by the arrows. Any ideas as to what it could be? The scale marks are 1mm, so it is approximately 0.5" by 0.75". Thanks

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting, I absolutely love this forum. I've decided to register and dive head first. I've recently moved back to Southern Arizona from Florida and I have rekindled my love with rocks, and now fossils, since it would seem I've been finding many of them from all of the ages. Please help me identify this find, it looks carnivorous of some sort, it would be cliche to say it looks like a raptor, but indeed it does. It would be hard for me to believe that this is a fake, since there is also tons of evidence that would point to this being real. (If it is, I'll post more of my finds from the area). I KNOW, I'll get to the point already. I'd just like some real feedback from folks who are more informed and educated in this area than I am. Here it is... and what do you think? Mineralization? Replacement of the softer tissues with minerals? I also have more what look to be different skulls, but some with holes in them and inside you can see bone, which the rock has encased. Found in Southern Arizona. I do apologize for the images being rotated in every direction.

I bought this turtle skull. I was apprehensive about its authenticity, so I took it to a museum that housed similar specimens. The man I spoke with spent time looking it over with all sort of magnifying objects. (Obviously you can tell I'm not a collector, I just thought this piece was interesting.) The man told me it was authentic. I want some second opinions, and if you also think it is authentic, then are you able to distinguish and classify its species for me? Help would be greatly appreciated. I took several pictures but for some reason the site is only letting me upload one. Other photos will be in the comment section.

I have two of what I think may be pieces of skull bone. They come from Hell Creek formation in Montana. Am I right? If so, any idea what the skull is from? The scale is mm. I also have some bone chunks from the same place, but will do it in another post due to file size.

Just a question here. For anyone who knows me, I one picky son of a gun. I ran into this the other day whilst going through some boxes of stuff. I found this many years ago while hunting in the White River formation in Wyoming with Kent Sundell. I dont want it, but my question is, is this sellable? Im not asking for a price of what it may be worth, but does anyone think that anyone may want a partial skull thats in bad condition? No lower jaws whatsoever! Just wondering? RB

Hi all, Purchased this today at a flea market at a very low price (10€ = more or less 10$!). My first big skull in my collection, I'm very happy with it. It's a kind of deer skull, and all the teeth are in great condition. The seller had it in his room since 18 years, and therefore doesn't know anymore where it comes from (though it's probably somewhere in Europe). Anyone know the exact deer species of the skull?
