Hello, everyone! I am a 34 year old married female that loves everything about rocks, fossils, and gemstones! My husband and I have an extensive collection of all varieties of just anything we thought looked neat or different. My husband recently started working on a house his mom bought and under it is a root cellar with a rock "wall" that I've been allowed to dig in .. y'all, I can't wait to show my finds off. I am certain (although I'm definitely also not sure 😃) that we have stumbled upon something amazing! Hint* dinos and gold/silver!

Hi there! I stumbled across this forum whilst trying to ID some of my finds I've been struggling with, I have loved fossil hunting since I was a kid but my ID skills are fairly poor beyond the basics as it turns out! I am from the UK south coast, so lucky to have beach combing opportunities on my doorstep I look forward to browsing around and seeing what other people have found!

Hi all, I found this tooth in Charleston, SC and was hoping to get some input. My initial thought was A. grandis (Giant Thresher) but it still looks different than other a Giant Threshers I have found. Odd little tooth. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I found this while shark tooth hunting this morning in Charleston, SC. It measures a little over 1.5 inches. Is it a horse tooth? Guessing it is partial. Any other interesting information anyone has on it would be appreciated! I don’t know much about them. Thanks in advance!

Hello all. I was wondering if anyone on here is from (or very familiar with) coastal plain South Carolina. I am not fishing for spots at all, in fact I have a vacation rental on a nice piece of land west of Summerville that I picked and paid for in hopes that we would have fossiling accessible from our home base. We have river access and the land is ripe with creeks. I would like to network with someone knowledgeable about the area to find out if where we are staying might be fossiliferous. This is mostly my teenage son's hobby, but we will definitely hunt as a family. We did hunt creeks in Florida a couple years ago and had a great time so we are at least somewhat familiar with the methods. What it comes down to is I don't want to schedule an excursion and pay a guide in South Carolina if an expert can tell us that we probably can find fossils right under our nose where we are staying.

Hi everyone, For a long time, I've wanted to find a Megalodon tooth. I'm from Toronto, where they don't exist. However, I have a trip to the South coming up, where I understand there are some prime locations. It's a trip primarily for business, but I'll have one full day to spend on my Megalodon hunt. I would therefore ideally want to pick a single site. I did my research and my understanding now is that some of the beaches near Charleston, SC are prime. It would be helpful to get some first-hand accounts from you guys, though. The blue area is where I'm already planning to go. Suggestions for Megalodon sites in that range are preferable. The purple area is where I can extend my trip if the sites therein are meant to be particularly fruitful. I would appreciate any suggestions on the most promising Megalodon-hunting areas in this region. The only real barrier is that I won't have access to a boat, so anything offshore isn't doable. Thank you, Bellamy

I am a beach walking shark tooth hunter who has been to Myrtle Beach many times and have had a lot of fun finding great white (almost 2 inches) and other shark teeth. I am looking for a seasoned shark tooth hunter who can take me and my wife inland to creeks and streams for a day. I am happy to provide you with compensation for your time and I will offer a bonus if we find any decent megalodons. I will be traveling to SC in mid August. Here is a pic of the teeth from my last visit.

A while back on one of the occasions my friend Barrett and I went to the Conasauga creepy crawlies, a man who arrived some time later with his daughter to hunt them recommended we check out a place called Springfield. A rough map of the area in and around Springfield says that there are pleistocene deposits in the general area. Anyone know of a good place to learn more, or a potential spot to hit?
