Finally was able to get out on the river for my first hunt of the year, the water receded time to see what the winter flood brought. I found some big layered slabs of Ordovician bits and pieces and am looking forward to cleaning them up to see what I got. Also found a beautiful mussel half, full of pink mother of pearl. I left it as I found it as Indiana law requires. Was great to get out!

Picked this rock up while fishing the river over the summer. Since it's to bloody cold to do anything outside I figured I would clean it up and see what all the bits and pieces are. I think it will be pretty when it's done, although some of the fossils are eroded. It's like where's Waldo? See anything?

This one is storm battered, broken brachiopods but what I'm curious about is the other half of this hash plate. Running down the center is a ridge that is part of the tongue shaped fossil, hope you can see it okay in the photos. Thanks in advance!

Came across this fossil today while out enjoying the sun. I've found coral before but the little cavities are usually infilled, this is like swiss cheese, wondering what it is. It feels like a pumice stone in weight and texture. Thanks in advance!

I found this along the Whitewater River in Southeast Indiana and trying to id looking at my book. I'm a newbie and trying my hand at prepping using a needle vise, but the more I uncover the more I find. Wondering if you could shed some light on what all is in this "rock". Thanks so much, meanwhile I'll keep pecking away and try to clean this up a little more!

Sorry guys I'm back with more Brachiopods. Usually the ones I find are embedded in matrix but these are nice ones, found near the Whitewater River. I've been going thru my ID book and wonder if my stab at identification is right or wrong, I learn either way. Once again thanks again for your help! Using the fourth photo with the shells right side up and with a ruler. Top left and middle are they Rafinesquina? Top right is that Holtedahlina? Bottom left Platystrophia? Bottom right Plaesiomys?

On this dreary first day of the New Year, I was poking around in some of the fossils I picked up on the Whitewater River in Franklin County Indiana and trying to id them. The fossil on the right hand side is shaped like a Horn Coral which I find alot but it shares the same crenelated surface as the fossil in the middle which isn't shaped like a Horn Coral. Could the middle fossil be Cystiphylloides? The piece on the left I have no clue, it's really porous and may be just a rock, but I see a small mold of a shell in it? Appreciate you help and want to wish everyone a Happy New Year!!

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a "hash plate" or not, seems to made up of multiple similar spines. The grooves appear to be made up of pieces of the fossilized "spines" that have fallen out, some of the spines look to be still embedded in the rock. Any idea of what they may be?

Found another # plate full of little bits and pieces, do you see anything identifiable? Photos show both sides, found on the Whitewater River in Southeast Indiana.

Got out to the river today to do some rock hounding, I think I've found a fossilized corn cob LOL. Honestly, I have no idea what this could possibly be a tool, concretion, fossil or just weird rock. The exposed end has a scallop like design, longitudinal grooves of some sort while the other end seems hollow to a point. It's weighty. What do you think? Found on the Whitewater River, Franklin County, Southeast Indiana. Thanks so much!!

I found this while looking around the Whitewater River area, Franklin Co Indiana, Southeast Indiana. It's eroded a bit but could it be an internal mold of the top of a Cyclonema? Appreciate everyone's help! Linda
