Just reassembled, crinoid stem with a bit of character. Probably Poteriocrinus sp., or maybe Rhabdocrinus, 20cm long, 10-12mm diameter, in a high energy deposit full of crinoid, bryozoan and brachiopod débris. It's unusually well articulated for this bed which mostly contains smaller broken bits of stems, arms and plates. There's a probably pathological swelling towards the top, above the radices. Last photo shows it as collected - very fragile and the main stem had largely broken into calcite cleavage fragments. Prepping so far was just a matter of letting it dry, then gluing, poking off shale with a needle and scrubbing (wet again) with a toothbrush. I'm letting it dry thoroughly and will then consolidate the sides and base of the block with thin paraloid solution. I might then air abrade a bit. Brigantian, Co. Durham, UK.

I had a hunt for some shark teeth the other day in the Lower Carboniferous/Mississippian of Scotland and found an interesting Petalodont I havent been able to identify, its very similar in shape to Petalodus acuminatus but has no imbricated basal ridge between the crown and the base and the ornamentation on the crown is also very different from P. acuminatus. Any thoughts on what it could be would be greatly appreciated!

During a recent trip to Norfolk in the UK I found myself looking through rock pools when the tide was out and realised there were at least three circular formations which were spread over the chalk surface but were made up of what looked like rocks fused together. Is it possible they are a series of prehistoric nests for dinosaur eggs? I have enclosed some photos. I look forward to hearing from you. Fwd%3a_Fossil_ID.zip

Hi folks. spotted this on a recent holiday in the UK to the south coast ( Dorset - the Jurassic coast ). the rock was approx. 250kg and I got it down to 80kg to get it in the car. the reason was I noticed this strange raised disc edge shape within the rock which does not appear man made. the rock is extremely hard. I plan to start removing the rock to expose more of it as I'm curious. any ideas as to if this is even a fossil and if so what it could be.

Hello everyone. First ever post here so apologies if I get anything wrong. I was recently gifted a fossilised reptile bone from Farringdon, Oxfordshire in the UK, (unknown date of discovery unfortunately but I was told it’s from the Jurassic period) The fossil in question messaures 15cm in length, height 4.5cm(tallest part) and 3.5cm( shortest part), width 1cm (thickest) and 0.5cm (thinnest). As you can see the bone has elements of curvature to it. I have a feeling the piece is pretty sea worn and understand it may never get an ID but thought it might be worth a shot to see what others think it could be! Any ideas anyone?
