I found these in a bag I got from someone so I'm not sure where there from

I'm running a paleontology camp this summer in Delaware. We can' actually do much digging because there are no fossils at the camp site. We do, however, have living fossils around that the kids can meet. I'd like to introduce the kids to the living fossils and show them the evidence of their ancient ancestors. We have snapping turtles (common and alligator), an alligator, horseshoe crabs, access to ginkgo leaves and magnolia, pileated woodpeckers aplenty, and triops kits are easy to come by online. Anybody have any fossils of these that they could part with? I have mostly marine fossils I can trade from all over the east coast, though mostly common stuff. From Delaware I have silicified pleistocene cyprus wood from Odessa, DE, belemnites, cretaceous gastropods, brachiopods (lamp shells), pelyceopods, and button corals from the C and D Canal (Mt Laurel Formation), plus various paleozoic tabulate and rugose corals that wash down the river from the Appalachians. I have oodles of shells, stingray plates, coprolites, and a piece of palmate coral from Calvert Cliffs (Miocene, Choptank formation). I have FLUORESCENT pleistocene shells from the Tamiami Formation in Florida. Plus, I have calamities and lycopods from the Lewellyn Formation in Carbondale, PA. The pictures here may not be the exact specimens and only represent a sample. If there is something specific from these locales that interests you, ask me. I might have something. Anyone willing to help me out? It doesn't have to be museum grade, so long as we can match it up to the modern version.

I think we have all seen the crabby beauties that @RJB and @Doctor Mud have revealed from their Stony Concretion prisons. Now I want to get in on that action, but I don't (currently) have a passport for a trip to NZ. Any sites in the US anyone knows of?

Hi all, During the Fossil Fair of Ede in March 2017, some of you might recall that I bought a big box full of different fossils. Well, here are some of them. Some spiriferid brachiopods (Punctospirifer kentuckyensis) from Breckenridge, TX, USA; from the Pennsylvanian of the Carboniferous. Collected in 1969! Now, as there are quite a few, I already gave a few, and will give a few more, away in trades with fellow forum members. Now, even though this is a nice amount of info, when I search up "fossils breckenridge Texas", I don't get any relevant results supplying more info on the location... So, anyone know more about this place? Thanks in advance, Max

Hi there. I recently found this fossil in Texas. From what I've seen online, it appears to be some type of ammonite. Would anyone be able to confirm that? And any ideas as to what kind of ammonite? Please let me know if I need to add more information or other pics. Thanks!

A friend and I will be in Harleyville, South Carolina on August 21 for the solar eclipse. Afterwards we plan on spending several days in Georgia hunting for both fossils and rock/mineral specimens. Our destination after Harleyville is the area around Cloudland Canyon State Park. After that we will be heading home to Florida either Friday or Saturday. Can anyone suggest some places where we could find some decent specimens? My friend would also like to try to pan for gold but we haven idea where to go. While we both are pretty experienced when it comes to fossils, although more Florida fossils then Georgia, neither of us have done much rock hounding outside of Florida. We would also love to meet up with any fellow forum members if anyone is interested or free during that time frame. Kara

Hello everyone! I recently made a trade with Blake @FossilDudeCO, and part of the things he traded were these sharkteeth. By the way, I highly recommend a trade with him! They come from the Peace River (Forida, USA). Some of the possibilities Blake mentioned were bull shark, lemon shark, hemipristis, dusky shark, etc. There are 10 teeth in total. Do you perhaps know what species they are? Also, do you know the age the teeth could have? Thanks in advance, Max

I have recently inherited what is labeled as a Avitelmessus Grapsoideus, petrified crab. The paper that is with the specimen says it was found South of Selma, Alabama, and is from the late cretaceous period, or 73 mya. The fossil is in an obvious shape of a crab, and is about 7" x 4" x 1.5/2". I am wanting to know if anyone has thoughts on preparing the fossil. I don't want to diminish any value, or risk damaging it, if this in fact what it said to be. I have read there is an acid treatment that can remove some of the rock. I'm really excited to see if there's a little crabby inside from 70 million years ago. Thanks!
