So I found a few things at Myrtle Beach and I'm looking for some help in ID'ing them. I love looking for fossils but am not sure on things and I love the help I've gotten on this site so far. And any help with these is appreciated. The ruler is in inches. . . . 1: I thought this looked similar to a whale ear bone? Admittedly it could just be a rock but I wanted to post here and get some opinions. Getting photos of something black and shiny can be difficult but I could take more if needed, and maybe find better lighting. 2. At first I though alligator tooth but then I learned that mosasaur teeth have been found in this area also, so now I'm not so sure. Either way I love it. 3. I was thinking dolphin tooth but obviously it's broken so I'm not entirely sure. 4. And I thought I'd throw this one here too. When I saw it in the water I thought I was going to be picking up a cucullaea steinkern, but this is what it was. I thought I remembered seeing something like this online somewhere but I really have no idea, unless it's just a piece of some bone. So there they are. Any information about any of these would be much appreciated. And I could post more photos of any of these.

Found this in Myrtle Beach. Thought this was a rock at first, but resembled too much like a tooth. Also, I unfortunately don’t have a tape measure or scale with me.

Hello, I hope all is well. I'm looking for some help with ID'ing two items I found on North Myrtle Beach (between 13th and 15th avenue's). The city is in the process of building a new drainage system around 18th avenue that extends out into the ocean (kind of looks like a pier). So there a a fair amount of offshore digging going on. I looked around on the web, a few other resources and a book and couldn't come to a conclusion on the ID for these items. One is a sharks tooth (#1 is the front with ruler for size, #2 is the back, #3 is the front a little closer)...I'm thinking maybe Dusky. The other is a bone or possibly turtle (#4 side view, #5 is the back, #6 is the front, and #7 is with a ruler for size). Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated

I am spending the week in Myrtle Beach, SC and I have been finding various shell fossils all week. Today I found this unusual fossil that I can't ID as well as what I believe is a sand dollar fossil in matrix. If I could please get an ID on the first one. Thank you in advance!

Found this fossilized structure. Not sure what it is from. Bf says it’s from shark tooth and I say it’s not…it looks pointy from one side like a vertebrae.

Hi there! I am new to not only this group but sea combing/searching for neat stuff. I was lucky enough to find a fossil sea urchin on my trip this past week to Myrtle Beach. I also found this. Initial (and secondary) thoughts had me thinking it was just a shell; however, after some more looking, something told me to hang onto it and look into it. Does anyone have an idea what it may be (or just a shell)? Thank you in advance.

Hello all! I found this partial tooth fossil on the beach and was wondering if anyone could help me identify what it is properly? I did some loose research and it resembles a few images of ichthyosaur teeth. Just a thought but I'd love to hear other perspectives! (Thanks again!)

These were all found on Myrtle Beach over the last few months and I was just wondering what they were (obviously). They look like fragments of turtle shell but I'm not completely sure. Hello everyone, A couple years ago I decided to try fossil hunting for the first time at Myrtle Beach, SC after learning about it from a fossil hunter I met while there. I found some interesting things during the week there, mostly in tide pools that formed later in the day, around 5-6 pm I think. There are a few I could tell were fossils, but the rest I am not sure about so I wanted to see if anyone could help give me an idea of what I might've found. There is a fossil dig site in my state not too far from where I live, so I might take them there as well for identification if they allow it, but I wanted to see if anyone on here might know as well cause this site was recommended to me by the fossil hunter. I used the cm side of a 12 in metal ruler (30 cm) to give an idea of how long each one is and tried to get as many photos of each one from different angles, but did have to hold some of them for certain angles, so I apologize for my hand being in some of the photos. There are 10 different fossils/potential fossils I have photos of, so I labeled the photos as Fossil #-photo #, so when replying you can use that to let me know which potential fossil you are identifying (ex 4-2, 3-1, etc). I hope the photo labeling helps some with responses. Can anyone ID this fossilized partial shark tooth for me? It was found in Myrtle Beach, SC. I’m usually pretty good at identifying them; however, this is just the tip as the rest of the tooth and the root is gone. The serrated edges (if any) look really worn out too - so this thing is old! Looks like it would’ve been a decent size too. I took a photo from above too as the tooth also looks thick.

Found this piece of fossilized wood on Myrtle Beach 4 years ago. Reminds me of bamboo. It’s 7 inches long. Wondering if anybody knows their plant life well enough to identify it. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Typically cretaceous or pleistocene era. Ped Dee formation. Thanks!

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 2022. Initially thought this was a turtle shell but the interesting texture on the underside reminds me of scute. Ideas? it’s 1 1/2 inches long and about an inch wide.
